Question about Villager's Pictures

Hey everyone. c: I have a question. On tumblr, someone posted a photoset where Lyle commented on a person's picture of Alli in their home, and said that *as long as they stay friends* they'll keep getting bonus points. So it sounds like if you stop being friends with a villager that gave you their picture, you don't get the points from it anymore by having it displayed in your home.
But when Mallary moved out of my town, she sent me a letter & attached her picture to it as thanks for being one of her best friends. I haven't talked to her since she moved though (sadly). So will I keep getting bonus points even though she moved? Or not? o.o

I think when they move away you are still considered friends with them. Otherwise you wouldn't get their picture when they move.
