My town is new enough that I'm still having villagers move in every few days. Well, it was every other day like clockwork until I got my 8th villager, then nobody moved in for a while. I'm still making a new character daily though, just to check, since you're *supposed* to get new villagers moving in until you get 9...or at least that's what the internet taught me.

Well, today I finally had a new villager move in! Unfortunately it was Alfonso the Alligator, and he decided to uproot a patch of Pear trees and rope off a section right in the middle of my orchard for his home. That's two strikes right there, buddy.

So I didn't save the new character, closed the game, and made yet another new character to see if whoever decided to move in this time had better manners and didn't ruin my trees with their house.

Nothing.

No new villager anywhere. Zip. Nada.

So I reset again. And again. Still nothing.

Now I'm afraid to just load up my Mayor in case I do get a new villager again and they put their house down in a terrible spot, since I won't be able to undo it. =(

Has anyone ever had this happen before? Do I have to just keep resetting until I get a villager again, or just cross my fingers and HOPE that when I select my Mayor and start playing there isn't a new villager plopped down somewhere?

Sometimes this happens when you're having the game move in villagers randomly. In the instance of starting a new character and NOT seeing a plot anywhere (after checking to make sure you don't miss it hiding in a corner or something), I usually save that character and go about my day on my mayor since I know no plots are there to crush anything or deliver an unwanted villager. After a couple days, the chance of a plot showing up gradually increase until there is a 100% certainty of you getting someone to fill your 9th spot.

In my new town, I usually took the opportunity on those days to adopt a villager so not only do I know when to expect a plot, I know it'll be someone I like or at least can tolerate until they move out.

Ah, that's a really good idea. I was so paranoid about just giving up and then WHAM a villager was in the middle of something when I loaded my Mayor, I didn't even think about just saving the new character with no one new in town to make it stick. ^_^

Thank you so much!

This is why I plan all my villagers before hand. I'm paranoid about ruining my towns.

How do you plan all of them before hand? Unless you invite them in from someone else's town when they're moving out, I thought it was just random? And regardless of where they came from, I thought where they decided to put down their house was also random. o.O

If you Soft reset and you found a plot and it is not at a good spot in your town and you load up the game again using a new player and didn't find a plot it is best to save the game after you made that player so no villager will crush your flowers, and trees.
