Samson just moved out but now there's only lazy villagers who wants to move in, and I'm tired of resetting :/ So now I got Annelisa to move in from the campsite instead. Is there still another villager who's going to move in? I only have 8 villagers right now.

If you only have 8 villagers, someone else will randomly move in within a few days. At least that's how it has always worked in my experience.

I think you only get one move in if you have 7. Once you have eight you either pick up from void or you pick one up…?

If you have 8 villagers, the game will try to move in at least one new villager. The only time the game doesn't do that is if you have 9 (in that case, the only uninvited move-ins will come from other people's voids).

Do you have any lazies in your town? Where random move-ins are concerned, the game usually tries to move in a personality that you don't have yet. If you have one of each, it'll pick a random set of villagers, usually of the same personality. I think it's still possible to reset to have more control over which ones you get, some people have obtained dreamies that way.

Hmm okay, I did some resetting today as well but there was no new plots at all D: I'll see how it's tomorrow..

I have eight villagers right now so I guess I'm gonna pick up someone from void then?

How does it work when move-ins come from other's voids? I've never heard of that. I plot reset everytime I know there's someone new who's going to move in, and now I don't have any lazies so yeah. I can't get any other personalities it seems like ): Most of my dreamies are normals orz

Thanks everyone for replying <3

You get up to 9 from random move ins so yes you will get a random move in unless you ask someone from the campsite to move in or invite from someone elses town or the void. Once you get 9, you will not get a 10th unless the above happens. The game will keep you at 9. I believe in the beginning though if you don't have a certain type of personality the game will try to bring in a villager of that personality type so you have all of them

A voided villager can move in from streetpass if someone mvoed out recently from that town you streetpassed with

When a villager moves out of your town but hasn't been invited by another player to live in their town (I don't know if you know about this feature or not, but on the last day that a villager is in your town and their things are packed into boxes, you can let someone visit and talk to that villager to invite them to their town), that villager ends up in your void. The void is basically a memory of villagers who moved out but didn't go anywhere in particular and it's attached to your game. When you StreetPass or interact with someone via wifi, if they have a free spot they can get a villager from your void. Likewise, if you have a free spot in your town and StreetPass or wifi with someone who doesn't have a clear void, that villager can move into your town.

When you're plot resetting for different villagers, I think that sometimes the pool of villagers you can get is limited and sometimes it's limited to a certain personality type that you don't have. If you don't want to get villager, you can always invite someone else to your town when there's no plot there and that won't happen.
