question about villagers moving in from friends' towns

okay so, as i came back from the trade, i tt'd back to regular time. (because my time ingame was advanced by a few days) i wanted to see if the villager moved in, so i tt'd a day forward. the villager wasn't there. i asked my friend and he said that sometimes it takes more than a day, so i tt'd a day forward again and he still wasn't there.

i continued the process, and a new villager moved in (not the one i traded for) and it bothers me that the villager i'm waiting for still isn't there, while a new one moved in? is this normal or..?

yes ; w ; after save+quit of course! plus after talking to the villager back in my friend's town, we made sure to save immediately.

The traded villager may have been overwritten somehow by the new one?
I believe that is only the case if your village is currently full. However, if you have 9 villagers at the moment, then maybe the traded villager will move in, in two days time?

hmm, the thing is, before fetching that villager, i had 8 in my town; so this new one is only the 9th, plus i have one in boxes right now;;

oh, wait, i just thought of something. my game is now on April 5th, a result of all the tt'ing.
after the trade, i tt'd back to March 23rd [today]; as you can see, that's about an 11-day difference.
but the date ingame was April 1st [not entirely sure though] when i fetched this villager from my friend's town. and that's a 4-day difference from my game time/date now.

is this in any way related? since i know it may take up to a week for them to move in.

Do you mean that after you asked the villager to move in your friend saved before you left the town ? I have seen on other threads that this can cancel the move and you have to end session or leave by the train.

yes, and i think this is exactly what happened. and something miraculous happened, when she tt'd back, he was still there, and i was able to get him :">
