I've seen some posts on this forum mentioning 'subtypes', and I got curious to what it's about. I tried looking it up online, but I still don't understand. So from what I know, it's a mechanic in the game that determines a villager's dialogue, along with other small details. How can I tell which villager is a "type A" and "type B"? Since there are 8 personalities and you can have a max of 10 villager, obviously you would need to invite two other villagers. How do I know if Fang and Apollo, along with Bea and Mitzi, have different subtypes from each other? (But even if they had the same subtype, I wouldn't want to kick a villager out because they're all my favorites.)

Subtypes are nothing to worry about. It only affect a small amount of dialogue.

For example: Sherb is Lazy A, while Bob is Lazy B. Sherb will talk more about food or wanting to be a superhero and stuff. While Bob will be a bit more mature and question things around him.

For an in-depth explanation, please read this:

Fang and Apollo are both Cranky subtype B
Mitzi is Normal subtype A and Bea is Normal subtype B
Also you shouldn't need to feel like you should kick out your favorite villagers because of the "subtypes" thing, love who you love and don't care about what anyone else things or if you just found out about subtypes, Apollo, Fang, Mitzi and Bea are all still the same ol' villagers you love right?

I still find it hard to believe because from my experience from 2020 all of them were just saying the same things as each other, maybe since the 2.0 update they fixed so you would tell which villager is saying different things, but I don't know I still think they talk the same way, although looking at the chart I am surprised that most of the villagers I avoided were the ugly ones who would say different stuff. I'll have to do more testing the next time I get a new villager.
