Question about upgrading T.I.Y

It says you need to spend 100k bells in the shop to upgrade. Does that mean all the money you've spent before in the shop counts towards that or is it 100k bells at the T.I.Y store specifically?

I think it means spending 100k bells in T.I.Y specifically, and spending money in the able sisters goes for adding kicks to the town and shampoodle. Pretty sure it depends on where you spend it ^^

I thought it did? I was sure I didn't spend 100k just on items and I seemed to have unlocked mine pretty quickly, remember doing a lot of ordering
