I'm looking to adopt two dream villagers in my town (Carmen and Francine), but since both seem rather "popular", and I do not have the bells to trade for them, I'm thinking of resorting to time traveling. I know very little about time traveling and how it works, or the effects it can have on your game, and since this is my first time ever playing an AC game, I don't want things to go pear-shaped.
If I were to keep time traveling, essentially until I got both of my dream villagers, then go back to the proper current date, would I still have both in my town? I have heard that no matter how far you travel back, the game only counts it as one day.
So, in theory, as long as I look after my town during each time I jump forward, nothing major should change when I go back? (because it counts as one day?)
However, TTing non-backwards WILL make weeds appear, neighbours could move, Sable hates time travelers, your character could trip (fall on the floor), flowers could die...
A backwards jump counts as a single day (except that no plants grow and no construction you ordered will be done) no matter how far you jump. So yes, you can come back to the present day with no worries.
I TT in my second town to move villagers out (I have villagers for two of my friends there) and what I do is stay in the most recent week so I never move ahead in the game (in otherwords, if I need to TT someone out I go Monday-Saturday, jump back to Monday). Also, make sure you have Beautiful Town as your ordinance.
Good luck -- and I would also suggest you keep looking, "popular" villagers come up on places like acnladopt for free regularly.
I've heard that too, that TT backwards only counts for one day. :/ but some of the time I'd try that and it affected me as if I were going forward. and finding your dreamies that way will be an EXTREMELY long time :/ Because you wouldn't know for a fact that you will be getting them or not. Unless you have a campground then it would be easier. But I believe if you TT backwards, lets say a month back, it shouldn't have any affect (due to what others have said) but I would still take precautions and TT only one day at a time :/ you also don't have to TT a LOT of days forward ^^" you can easily just TT one day ahead, then one day backwards it's easier than TT a bunch and having to TT back to your time.
