I am full of questions today, sheesh...

Anyway, this should be the last one in a while!

Tomorrow I'm going to try the plot reset trick for the first time, because I've done a lot of landscaping since my last villager moved in and I don't want my hard work to be ruined, but I just wanted to ask a question.

I'm a bit paranoid of game corruptions, so I just wanted to know if resetting the game (going to the home screen, then closing out the software) can possibly result in your game corrupting?

I mean, I know your game has a chance to corrupt for no reason, but I don't want to do this if it increases the risk of corrupting my game... I just got back from a long break from this game and I don't want to have to start over.

As long as I don't reset the game when it's saving, I should be good, right?

Yes, you should be fine. I have done thousands of plot resets (I know crazy right?) and my game is completely fine. Good luck getting your new villager into a good spot! :)

Goodness, I can't even stand the thought of doing it 100 times, but 1000 times? I'm in for a rough day lol thank you!!

As long as you don't reset during save screens then yes you should be alright.
I've villager plot reset, campsite reset, and ninth villager reset many, many, many times and so far nothing bad has happened. So you should be safe.

Thank you for the answer! I was just worried since I have the digital copy, and I've heard a lot of things go wrong with the digital copy, so I just wanted to be sure.

I have a related question. I just went to another town to adopt a dreamie. Since I plan to keep him, I'd kind of like his house in a decent spot. Can I do the plot reset trick without risking losing him. Will it always be him or do I risk the chance of it being another villager? Thanks

No, it is not possible unless you invite another villager AFTER you invite your dreamie. Don't worry about it.

You won't lose him as long as you don't invite anybody else after you invited your dreamie! You should be fine. :3

In other news, it only took about 2 resets to get Freya's plot where I wanted it! I guess I'm pretty lucky. :3
