Today, one of the people who visited my island to make a trade jumped on Camofrog as soon as they saw him, without asking for permission.

I don't plan on letting Camofrog move out, because he's one of my favorite villagers. However I do fear that, in the event that I can't play the game for an extended period of time, Camofrog could move out on his own because someone talked to him (which, as I understand, would put him in the void, I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong, please).

If I talk to Isabelle and report a villager, would it also reset his memory, so he wouldn't remember this person, thus avoiding the whole situation of me losing him if I don't play the game for a while?

Talking to someone doesn't cause a villager to move out. They will always ask you first in New Horizons before moving, anyway, according to TTers, and then the only effect someone else can have on the process is that if they talk to him once he's in boxes they can invite him over.

You're in no danger of losing him.

The worst Camofrog will do is mention the players who spoke with him on the odd occasion. He cannot be swayed to move out if villagers are spoken to repeatedly by other players, and will only move out after informing you and you parting ways with them.

I ask because this same Camofrog came to my island after I talked to him at my friend's island (he wasn't in boxes when I talked to him, but I don't know if he already had asked for permission to move out). He allowed me to talk to any villager I wanted, and I did. Camofrog didn't even talk about moving to my island when I was there.

The only reason I know he came from that island is because he told me so.

That would be because your Camofrog asked to move away naturally, and your friend said yes. Your friend then did not trade Camofrog away to anyone and voided him. Because you two interacted, you picked up Camofrog from your friend's void. Like the other posters have said, he won't move away unless you give him permission to.

If you did not invite him, that means you picked him up from that players void some other time.
That is COMPLETELY different and not connected to you talking to him.
You can get void villagers from never even have talked to them before, fyi.

So, dont worry. He will only "void" on you if you let him move out (then don't allow anyone to adopt him.)

I feel a bit rude piggybacking on this thread, but maybe someone can answer:

Do villagers only mention visitors they’ve directly spoken to, or anyone whose stopped by the Island?

I ask this because whenever I’ve done trades, multiple of my villagers mention multiple of those visitors—even though I’m fairly sure that they wouldn’t have had the time to talk with each other.

Thanks! That explains the whole thing. It's a little bit confusing and I was like "oh, nice, now I'll lose my villager..." when the person in question just jumped at the poor frog.

They mention any person that enters your island, despite the fact they have interacted with your villagers or not.

Yeah, villagers will mention visitors regardless of if they talk to anyone or not :O

Yeah that’s what I figured. It doesn’t really bother me, I was just curious. I’m glad that the talk about them seems to die down after a few days.

Thanks for responding! ^ェ^

Julian has a crush on my friend Chadwick.
I swear by it.
Even before he had talked to him to get a recipe, Julian talked about him ALL.THE.TIME. so much so that I literally started taking screenshots and sending them to him.

Same with Savannah for my boyfriend's character. He has never even spoken to her. He has been on my island MAYBE 3 times. Yet she mentions him OFTEN.

So... as stated... even if someone doesnt talk to any villagers when they visit, yout villagers may bring them up in conversation a week later... which does get pretty old.
