Hi. I recently ordered a switch lite so I can have a second island along with the one I have for my normal switch. I read that I can sign in with my Nintendo account on my new switch once it is delivered to me and use my existing online membership, but someone told me that I can’t play as my main character “ Matt “ on both switches at the same time even though they’re totally separate switches. This would be a problem if it’s true, because how am I supposed to play on both my games at once and transfer items between them if I can’t play as the same switch account, on my different towns.

I hope this makes sense, it’s hard to explain

You would need to create a second account to use it on your second switch to have a second island.

Edit: you can't have two islands with the same account, as it's one island per switch.

Yeah I know I can’t have 2 islands on one switch. That’s why I bought another switch, but I’m confused as to if I can sign in to my same Nintendo account or if I’ll need to make a second Nintendo account to play ACNH on there

You can sign into the same Nintendo account and have a second island. You just can't play those islands at the same time nor trade between them. I have my main island on my new switch and a secondary cycling island beginning on my old switch - both under the same nintendo account and its working perfectly fine.

So if I wanted to trade between the islands or have them open at the same time, I’ll need another account and switch inline subscription, correct?

because yeah that’s one of the main reasons I bought my new switch, because I want to be able to transfer items Between them

You'll actually need an entirely new copy of New Horizons sadly. Nintendo is still doing that whole "primary console" thing. So on your second switch, only the account that bought the game will be able to play it. And even then, the game can only be active on a single console at a time. So if you were to start up NH on your primary switch, it wouldn't allow you to open NH on the new switch until the primary is put to sleep or closed out. So in order to trade, you need to make a second account and buy NH again on this new account.

I hope that made sense lol
