I hope I've got this in the right forum!

So when AC:NL came out I purchased the Limited Edition 3DS XL Bundle with AC:NL already loaded digitally onto the console. It came with a 4 GB memory card (fine, fine).
Later, Bravely Default came out and Gamestop was out of physical copies. I purchased a digital one. I get home and find out theres not enough space for both on the 4GB card. SO. I go back out and buy a 32 GB card. Eager to play Bravely Default, I download it and start playing.
I later remember I need to move my save data from the 4 GB for ACNL to the 32 GB.
I tried copying the files to a folder and then to the 32 GB. Didn't work. Also read that I might need to start a new game on the 32 GB and THEN replace the save files. That didn't work either.

I'm kind of stuck. It seems like it would be easy enough to send the data over if the new card were unused, but mine had other data already on it.

What do I do? I really really really don't want to restart my game!

Any help, suggestions, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

It's a kind of dumb SD management glitch that Nintendo has.

The way to do it properly is by first moving over the data from the 4 GB to the 32 GB, and only then buying other games to download on the 32. I think when it's done the way you did it the metadata used for sorting is stored differently, so it won't recognize the games from the 4 GB as yours, even though they are.

Only solution I can think of real quick is formatting the 32, moving over the data from the 4, then re-download Bravely Default. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to keep two separate SD cards.

At this point I'm prepared to lose everything but ACNL. I can start everything else all over, but I don't think I could handle losing my town.
Since I've already used the 32 for other games, is it possible to just wipe it and reformat it and move the ACNL data from the 4 over to it?

Okay....this isn't good.
It's telling me:
"Cannot use save data because it was not the last data saved. Delete Data?"

Uhhhhhh?

Yes.

It's over, isn't it. I messed it all up and now I'm forced to start over, right?

That means your using old saved data of the game. Animal Crossing does not like it when you use old saved data. You must use the current data you saved with the 3DS.

Please don't tell me you used back up data from your computer and saved over the copy on your SD card that wasn't fully up to date.....

I get that, but the problem is that this save data is the only save data I have.

I just looked it up. From what I can see, it's from having started up ACNL on the second SD card. They have different IDs and the 32 is now seen as the one where ACNL is on.

It's apparently just a safeguard from having multiple towns. I'd contact Nintendo about it, and see if they can help you. Otherwise, your town might be lost...

........

I'm sorry to say but your stuffed..... :(
I don't know if its possible to restore it your saved data of the game, with that old saved data being your only copy. Animal Crossing I bet will just reject it and delete your saved game. Sorry man...

Keep in mind to always have 2 copies up to date when transferring files in case anything goes wrong.

Well that totally stinks. Thanks so much for the help. I'll try contacting nintendo, but I guess I'll just have to start the painstaking journey of rebuilding my town.

Thank you for your input and help!
