Question about random villagers former island

Hi!

I tried searching for my question but couldn't find anything, so I hope it hasn't been asked before.

I am a casual gamer and usually don't try to spoil my experience by gathering a lot of information while starting to play a game. Therefore I rushed through getting my first 10 villagers only caring about if I like the way they "feel". Now I started to get deeper into the mechanics of the game, got a villager to move out and wanted to search for a special villager.
I was shocked when I suddenly saw that the empty spot was sold and some random villager moved in! I had no idea they could to that, since I rushed so hard at the beginning

But here's my question: My new villager said that she lived on another island before, one I remembered to have visited for a trade. I love the idea that there may be a connection between villagers you talked to on other islands and random villagers to move to your island. So i wondered: Can it really be like that, or did she used a random name of an island my game remembered that I visited.
And: Does a villager you gave someone else remember you when you visit him on his new island?

I’m not 100% sure, but if it’s like New Leaf, each player has a “void” where villagers who have recently moved out sit for a while. If someone else visits that persons town and has an open space in their town, they could collect a villager from that players Void.

When one of your villagers moves and it's not "adopted" (taken by another player) they are voided. It's like a list of characters that moved out of your island. When interacting online, you enter in contact with other player's voids, and instead of random villagers you can get those voided ones!

And as far as I know yeah, they remember you, they can even move back to your island later on and they are aware that they are moving back!

yes, i've had my moved-out villagers go to my friends' towns, and they remember me when i visit!

You seem to have picked up the villager from that other player's void. It is a common occurrence if you visit someone's island while having an empty plot yourself ^^

While some people like this, others including myself don't because I wouldn't be happy to have a random move-in take a plot of mine that im trying to save for another villager so it can be a bit frustrating given the fact there seems to be no way to clear your void in this game!

Yes, you are right about that. I also was bummed out that I couldn‘t use the chance to go „dreamie hunting“, even though I am really happy with my new furball! But I like it that if there are random move ins they are ones you crossed paths with at some point, giving the villagers more of a story and I like the thought that moved out villagers aren‘t simply deleted. It gives me a warm feeling

I agree The other day someone came to my town to invite Wade.
I was afraid to get one of their voided villagers so I did a bit of island hopping to find a snooty because it was the only personnality I still didn't have since the beginning of the game. I couldn't find any so I just let the plot empty thinking that maybe the void of this person was clear and I'll get a random snooty.

The day after the plot was sold to Limberg and the following day I figured out that he was not coming from the person who came for Wade, but from my cousin's island with whom I played 10 days earlier


Also, I only have 9 plots, so maybe that's why I could get a villager from someone I played with 10 days earlier

I have all plots and if must have been at least 3 weeks that I have been to the island the new villager is from, so who knows

Ok, so it means we can get a voided villager even if our town is full

It wasn't like that in New Leaf
