So um I know I have to create a neighbor after 6 am and NOT load up my town with my other files in order to keep resetting for the plot I want. I have been trying to get this one perfect for hours and... WELL, a full 24 hours has passed by, and it's 6:05am and my neighbor has plotted in a somewhat okay spot (I started my new file at 5:58am)

I just wanted to if I can keep plot resetting even after the day the neighbor has intended to move in. Also, if I really was picky about it, can the neighbor be put ANYWHERE, or are there only certain locations in the town they can move in to? I notice they usually repeat spots

Well there has to be a certain number of spaces away from anything (other houses, rocks, pwps, etc.). That's why the plots like to repeat.

ummm okay but can someone please answer my first question? I am paranoid I might screw upp lol

If I understand your OP, I'm thinking you want to know whether you can go past 24 hours and still have a new villager moving in. I think yes, because I started a new character after a week of not playing and still had my first move in, but I would recommend setting your DS clock back 6-24 hours through the settings and trick your game cartridge into thinking it's the same day as you've been working in.

I thought the 3ds clock didn't affect acnl as the ds did with acww?

The 3DS clock does affect the game, but if you convinced a villager to move in I think they should still move in regardless of whether the game thinks you were playing the day they were due to place their plot. Most likely you will just miss the plot reserved stage and their house should be fully built with them unpacking boxes.
As for placement, villagers like to move near certain areas. They can pretty much move anywhere provided there is 1 block border between their house and certain objects (e.g. other houses, rocks, cliffs) but they will prefer to plot near other villager houses and the river so that's probably why you have found them repeating certain placements.

no, they will stay plotting and never disappear/turn into a full house each day you plot reset, no matter how many days pass. i know this for certain because i have spent up to three days resetting and never turned my clock back.

they like to repeat putting themselves in multiple places. once youve cycled through six different places, turn off your entire 3ds and then turn it back on and try it again. if theyre still habitually placing, id recommend going back in time to the day before they started plotting and placing a house or a pwp in the most continually visited spot to break the habit.

well idk if setting the clock back works or not but I set it back anyways just in case and it looks like I'm good lol

as for the location, I wanted to have it next to two other neighbors that are in between the station and the plaza. I thought I could sweeze em all together but I guess not. Oh well. Thank you all for your help! c:

You might find there are certain places in town where villagers just won't plot. I have all mine in places now where villagers have been before. I spent an awful long time when I first started to get dreamies trying to get Bam in the right place. Had to leave it in the end as he just wouldn't plot there. But as long as you keep your game on that same date to plot reset you can do it as many times as you need to. Although it's ridiculously tediuous and I give up after 2 hours of my villager still isn't plotted right

nvm after like 40 resets I ended up getting my neighbors together in the spot after all. Yessss I finally got the exact plot I wanted, horray for patience. :3
