Question about making villagers move out

I read somewhere that to get a villager to move out, you have to be very rude to them (hit them with a net, walk into them, etc.). I was just wondering if this works, because in New Leaf, it doesn't (it places them on the "friendship ladder"). Thanks!

I don't think that works in any Animal Crossing game, despite what some people say (or assume).
