Hi everyone!
I've recently been wanting to get back into playing NL but I am super scared I might loose some of my villagers. I haven't played in over a year.

However, I have found a guide, but I wasn't too sure about a few things, and I am just looking for someone to confirm my suspicions before actually trying out this method in order to get back into my game without losing any of my precious villagers ;u;

Before I ask my question, please read through the method I found and then I will point out the things I'm worried about;

The bit I'm most concerned about is the whole 'After you've made sure you've found someone who wants to move out and stopped them from moving, you can time travel all the way back to the present date.'

The last time I played ACNL was back in 2014, 24th August. I'm worried if thats way too much of a time gap and that I might lose a villager. (I am just mostly scared that I will lose Skye, since she is my favourite villager that I own, and I bet knowing my luck I'll end up losing her).

So I just want someone here who has done this method in the past to confirm that it's completely safe to do. c: Thank you!

You won't lose any villagers if you do what the method says and go back in time to deny a villager's request to move before coming back to the present. Once you deny a request to move, it doesn't matter how long you go without playing, nobody will move and that's that.

I've also written a guide about this and can confirm that it's safe to do that.

Ohhh okay, thank you for clarifying this. I just wanted to be sure before actually doing it ;u;

EDIT: It's funny that I mentioned Skye as being the one I most didn't want to move, she was the one that asked to move. :') But everythings gone smoothly and no one has moved, and I'm back in the present. c:

I think this works, haven't tried it myself but someone posted this here too and there weren't any negative comments as far as I can remember :3
And welcome back, I hope you will enjoy animal crossing new leaf again c:

I'm glad you got to keep Skye, then! Welcome back to the forum and ACNL :)
