Question about changing on other people's islands

I remember when the game first came out, I was able to change on my friend's island. (Or maybe it was just my face......... that makes more sense..)
Is that possible now? Did they patch it..? Or is it with a specific wardrobe item that you're able to?

uhh.. if you have clothes in your pockets you can change. You can also use able sister's normally.

but if you're asking about if you can use, like, wardrobes and chests to change on someone else's island, no, you cannot : P

You can use wand to change outfit on other’s island, and people can see what name you give to that outfit.

I am sure you can use their mirror to change hair, skin and eyes. I am sure I had my friend come over and use my cute vanity to change her appearance.
