Question about auctions?

If you checked the new bell tree direct, they made an auction rule!
I was very happy to see that... and happy to see that they seem to encourage you to give a negative wifi rating if the seller doesn't follow through with it. -happy-

This.

tl;dr for those that didn't read BTD: It now has to be stated that the auction's rules are subject to change, meaning that if they say that, there's a 99.9% chance they're going to screw up the auction in some form.

Yeah, if anyone says the rules are subject to change, I will not be partaking in that auction. XP

Great. The only thing they need to add now is something to prevent sniping :P
if the person bid on it and constanely go up and up, they really want that villager.
Now someone comes along and bids 100k higher than you and the owner takes that one. On the last second.
I've had that happen. It's stupid and ridiclous. I know it's a fair bid, but if people bid higher and higher, they really want that villager. Also, I've had an occasion where the auction was over and I won, the aunctioneer even ANNOUCNED that I won, and then some1 comes 1 minute late and bids higher. They take that offer. Luckily the new rules stop this.

Ugh.

I also lost a dreamy because of someone extending the auction. They extended it the first time, and I wouldnt be online. If they had stayed at the first price, i could have been online. However, since it was a dreamy, I really, really wanted it. Now, if the auctioneer had said no, i would have been hurt, but it would only be fair. No, they told me they would extend, and what do they do? Not extend. Give the villager to a different person who bid while I was offline. I was so hurt... And plus they ignored me.

This is why I have a sniping rule that I used for other sites that I'll carry over to this one...

To be "fair" in any auction I have ever held in a forum I did have a "sniping" rule. Basically you add 5mins to the end of the last bid to prevent someone from just coming in and snipping the auction.
Example ::
Auction end time is 12pm, last bid 11:58am new end time 12:03pm
... no new bid before 12:03 the user wins.
... if new bid at 12:02 then end time will be 12:07
And so on...
It extends the auction a little bit to prevent sniping TO BE FAIR TO THE BIDDERS who have slow internet, but it is ONLY 5mins, so it's not like it's going to get me a lot more money or anything unlike people who are truly extending their auction. >.>
Feel free to take the idea for yourselves. =3
...
I wonder how many revenge negative wifi ratings there will be if someone gets the auctioneer a bad rating for not going through with the sale. XP

Thats the thing.
They will leave you a negative wifi rating just because they diddnt do something. Then you have to bother a mod.

Yeah, I think wi-fi ratings are just that, a rating you leave AFTER you've wi-fied with someone. I've had plenty of people promise me to give me a villager for a certain price, only to leave me hanging dry later. I could've left them a bad wi-fi rating, but that's not what the system is for to me.
I do think the new rules are fair though. There's nothing more annoying then someone not following through with an auction, just because they didn't get the desired amount.
