Question about a secondary character and data transfers

I apologise if this is a dumb question because I don't know much about how the Switch and data transfers work. I was about to make a secondary character for my game but thought of something. What would happen to my secondary character if in the future I did a data transfer to a new Switch? Can it transfer both users at the same time? Or will it transfer just my main profile and delete the old Switch's game data and users, making my secondary's house disappear or become impossible to access?

I know we currently can't transfer data with New Horizons but for those who know how transfers work in other games, how would it work with this game? Am I worrying for no reason?

Secondary characters are treated as part of the island, they're not save files tied to profiles. When you delete a profile, the character will still be there and you can linj them to a different/new profile. The island backup saves the entire island including all characters too, regardless of whether their associated profiles have the online subscription.

I don't know for sure if that's how a transfer works, but it's likely that the other characters will be transferred with rhe island and just not be playable until you link them to a profile again.

Ohh that makes sense, so if I made a new profile and a new character, then that profile got deleted, I'm able to simply make the profile again and continue playing? How would I link the new profile to the character in the game?

I haven't tested it myself, I just know that characters stay on the island when you delete the profile and linking them to a new one is how you can still get rid of them. Linking them is done through the - button menu on the title screen.
