I have one 3DS and one physical copy of AC at the moment, I want to make an additional town. Would buying another physical copy allow me to do this. I've tried playing the game on my brother's console and my town is in tact when I load it up on his, this leads me to think that the save data is stored on the cartridge, if this is true i'm wondering if buying a second physical copy will work. I've seen people buy both digital and physical copies but i've heard bad things about the save data still clashing with eachother. Anyone know how this all works?

My sister and I both have separate cartridges but we share the same 3DS and we have had no problems whatsoever :)

Data from 3ds games is stored on the cartridges, not the console. Buying another physical copy would be fine.

It should save directly onto the cart itself, no data is stored on the ds, so you should be okay. It's just like having both black and white versions of pokemon. I have both the physical and digital versions on my system and I haven't had an issue. Having a cart and a digital is convenient; no cart swapping!

Ah, I often wondered why people opted for the digital and physical approach, convenience makes sense. I have heard people say the data can clash so i've always thought that two physical copies must be out of the question if you are going to take a risk with a digital. Thanks for clearing it up everyone!
