PWP spacing // town planning help!

Okay, so the best place in my town (imo) for the cafe is beside the train tracks, on the opposite side of the train station. I'd like to have it back as close to the fence as I can but still be able to have a line of cedar trees behind it.

The trees need to have one empty space away from the fence, and presumably the cafe needs to be one empty space away from the trees. And the cafe is five spaces deep, four spaces wide, right?

So if I'm digging holes to mark space for planning (which is what I'm doing, I find it easier to visualize), the back of the cafe would start at the fourth hole from the fence? so the front of the cafe would be the ninth space/hole. And the cafe needs to be at least two spaces away from the stone area around the train station, and one space from a tree if the tree is one space away from the stone area.

Right?

Also, should I put the trees in first, or the cafe? Will the cafe demolish the trees when it's being built even if I've set them far enough away (the one empty space?)

I'm not usually so anal, but the cafe is permanent and I'm really set on my vision for this town. I'll be afk for a little while, but I'll check all responses when I get back, thanks in advance for any help/ insight you guys can offer!

Last thought: Will you even be able to see the cedar trees behind the cafe, from any angle? Is the cafe taller than the trees?

I actually have a line of cedars on my train tracks and then my cafe a bit before it, when I made my cafe it didn't destroy any trees when I built it. And yes, you can see the trees from behind it as well.

Did you just need one empty space between the cafe/trees?

You should plant the trees first, they don't usually like trying to grow between things. Everything you've laid out sounds correct to me if I'm visualizing it right! You should also save right before you talk to Isabelle about the project, so that if you do accidentally plot it too far back you can just restart and try again.

Alright, I've got the tress planted and I'm using designs laid out around the perimeter of where I want the cafe so if I'm off I should be able to see it in the preview. Wish me luck!

Mine seems to be two spaces away from the tree, but I lined mine up with my town hall, which was that many spaces away. I'm sure one space away should work too though, as trees always need one space around them. However I think if you grow the trees first and then put down the cafe they shouldn't die.

I have the plot placed now and the trees planted just before, and I'll wait until the trees mature before I finish building the cafe, just in case. I don't forsee any problems though between my overthinking and your experience with a similar setup I'm feeling pretty confident about it! Thanks for your help!
