Purple Hyacinths

My island's name is Lilac Bay, so I want to have lots of purple hyacinths on my island, as they kind of look like lilacs. Every guide I've found has said two blue hyacinths will breed a purple hyacinth. However, I have probably about 70 blue hyacinths that I water daily, and all they ever produce is more blue hyacinths.

Is there some sort of trick to breeding the purple hyacinths? Or are the guides wrong about how to breed them?

Glad it isn't just me.

I'm the opposite - all of mine have been bred on my island, from white hyacinth seeds I bought from Nook's.

Interesting, so the guides are wrong! Good thing I have plenty of orange hyacinths, I will give that a shot.

I've watered blue hyacinths and got some purple hyacinths! they do take forever to breed though..

I've been trying to make purple hyacinths too, and turns out orange + orange makes purple and blue, so you might end up with a lot of blue hyacinths too.

I have made purple hyacinths a few times now. I have a diamond pattern with orange and blue hyacinths, so I'm not sure if they were bred from orange+orange, blue+blue, or blue+orange

My blues popped out a purple this morning. I have a ton though and they've only made one so far.

I can confirm that blue and blue will produce purple that came from a hybrid island. Both my husband and I have gotten purple this way. My orange are not close enough to have produced the purple ones I have. Orange might also give purple I just haven't had my orange produce any others yet. We both have them offset to allow room to breed. Right now I only have one blue and my husband has two. If I had more I would give you some.

Do you guys think that maybe there's something about the hybrid island flowers that only those can produce purple hyacinths? I have a bunch of orange and blue that I've made myself and I tried every combination I could think of but all they seem to make are more blue, more orange and even pink hyacinths!

I had a bunch of blue hyacinths from an island that would occasionally make purple ones. It's just rare.
