Public Works tips? How do you guys get villagers to suggest....

Before the update, people used the "diving trick" (you can Google it if you haven't heard of it, there's like a tutorial). Idk if people do anything different now tho.

Well, you get suggestions for PWPs when a villager pings so I'd say do the method where you swim into a far corner of town, wait a few minutes then return to shore as this makes a villager ping. Before you do this you'd have to empty your pockets of any stuff the villager could ask to buy and instead fill them with stuff like seashells and tools so the villager can't give you anything either. Also deposit all your bells so they don't try and sell you stuff. Of course it could be something completely random and not a PWP suggestion, but in that case just repeat the process. I've used this method a little bit and so far it has been quite successful, if a bit tedious. I suggest doing something else (like watching a movie or whatever) while trying this out so you don't get bored. This may not be the best way but it has worked quite well for me. Good luck! ^_^
I'm actually doing it right now, but it doesn't seem to work, they don't always ping me :'(
I got my pockets filled with tools and seashells and a couple of snowflakes.
I got my fortune from the lovely phone and got my lucky item on me.
I set the timer for 5 min and swam out, then I stick a little piece of paper under the d-pad so my player keeps on moving.
I did not empty my bells though... as you suggested.
But I don't seem to get pinged
I already got a suggestion for a PWP, is it one per day??:/

It's usually just one per day~ There are instances of getting two in a day, but they're rare~
I'd definitely empty your bells out and try filling inventory with flowers, I always have better luck with flowers for some reason... The diving trick is my go-to and it's how I unlocked all of the PWPs, but I've been playing a looooong time

The method I use, it's the same as Frosbite2002:
- My pockets have all flowers and no bells.
- I wait for 10 min on a corner of the sea, make sure your villager don't see you.
- Then I take a turn in front of the villagers.
It's gonna take very long or less. ^^

Oh no, I believe it does work. But I just wasn't sure if there was some better method to get PWPs after the update.

Oh btw the diving method should be easier now because after the update, villagers ping way more often. So you might not need to wait the full 10 minutes (or however long it was) that they said before.
One more tip! If you've been playing for a while and haven't spoken to any villagers then they won't ping you, in which case I'd try talking to one that you don't want a ping from. That skips over them entirely, in my experience so far from doing this, so the odds of you getting the ping from a villager you want will be increased a tiny bit. The "are you tired?" message that they'll give blocks any pings so if you feel you've been playing for about an hour I'd try checking to see if that's been triggered.
I actually do something different I go to Isabelle and set up a PWP. Then I walk around town with her for 5 mins. After that, I cancel the project and walk up to one of my neighbors. They never fail to ping,and I find it more likely that they suggest projects. I also find it more likely if you recently built a project.
Of course this could just be dumb luck, but I've definitely had more luck this way.

I've had luck with getting PWP suggestions after attending a PWP ceremony. Someone will always ping for something after the ceremony is over! I also just walk around town a couple times to pass the time and my snooty always pings me with a suggestion lol.
I've tried the diving trick before, it worked, but it's kind of tedious. After the update I've been getting suggestions two or three times a week. I'm thinking maybe I should start using the diving method more often...

sometimes (i'd say 50ish% of the time) when i build a pwp that was suggested by one villager (ex: the Lighthouse suggested by Chops... when he was still in town) and hold the ceremony for it as soon as the game starts up, another villager will ping me with their own pwp idea (ex: Merengue pinging me for the Fairy Tale Clock after the Lighthouse ceremony).
i'm sure that the game isn't specifically coded for that to happen, but it's just a trend i've noticed
