Hello! I am trying to get the public works requests but my villagers never recommend anything. They just talk about changing their greeting or whatever. Do any of you know how to get recommendations faster?

Just use a wetsuit! Swim to the corner of your town map...wait 5 mins walk around intill someone pings you 
This has worked really well for me. Also fill your inventory with either flowers or bags of 100 bells. So the villagers don't want to trade or request favors! Good luck
