I have been debating on whether I should get a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 for quite a while now and I am quite torn between the two. Here are my pros and cons, whoever wants to help me decide between the two will have me eternally grateful for you as this is a very hard decision for me.

Xbox 360
Pros
  • Better controller
  • I already have an Xbox Live account with 260G Points on it
  • 250GB Console costs $199
  • I have more friends in real life that own an Xbox 360
Cons
  • My Xbox Live was accidentally set as a child account and I have no way of undoing it
  • Does not have a Blu-Ray player
  • Has backwards compatibility with the original Xbox, but has some issues according to Wikipedia
  • Requires Xbox Live Gold to have Netflix

PlayStation 3
Pros
  • Has Infamous games, which I have a huge interest in playing
  • Has better graphics
  • Built-in Blu-Ray player
  • PlayStation Network accounts are free from what I have heard
Cons
  • 12GB console costs $199
  • Controller is not all that great (I have used both a PS1 and PS2 controller so I have a great understanding how these things feel in the hands...)
  • Super Slim model is the only version of PS3 available while some of the stores near me are still selling the Xbox 360 S
  • Newer models removed backwards compatibility for PS2

Your thoughts are greatly needed and thank you in advance!

I'd say PS3 because PSN is free and Xbox Live isn't free.

Also Microsoft kinda irks me.

The PS3 is still getting exclusives well on into next year while 360 exclusives have seemingly come to a grinding halt. So if you're looking for something to carry you a while before you think about buying a next-gen console, then you may want to consider that detail; that, and the fact Sony has indicated they'll continue to support the console for a while as they did with the PS2.

I would go with the PS3 because of the other reasons stated by users above, and because you'll get an overall better experience in my opinion.

I'd say 360 for all the neat indie games you can buy in the store, like Fez!! Though I'm not sure how many are also available for PS3 along w/ Fez, so maybe PS3 is better option?

I have both and I say go with a PS3. Much better games, free online, free games to download monthly (if you're subscribed). I'm not sure what you need all that GB for though. I might be a little biased since my 360 broke, while my PS3's still going even though I've had it longer.

I own both. I use the 360 more by far for various reasons.

For your situation though, I'd recommend the PS3. If you want to play Infamous, want a BluRay player, and want to be able to play online without paying a subscription fee, that's the better way to go.

Well 360 have way better servers, and most games are made for 360 and then ported to PS3 which makes them a bit worse, but PS3 have better exclusives, I would say 360 if you don?t mind paying for good service, and best quality on most games, and I would say PS3 if you don?t wanna pay a monthly fee, and you wanna play it?s amazing exclusives, and it have blue ray if you wanna use it for movies.
I have both, but honestly I don?t use any of them since I have a powerful PC xD
But I don?t understand why you wanna buy one now that the next gen?s coming out in around 2 months.
If you?re really gonna buy a 360 or PS3, then I would recommend that you wait until next gen have released, then the prices should fall.

Or you could just splurge and get the newest and greatest (xbox one is just a fat energy sucking lump of crap sitting in your living room that spies on you throughout the day) GET THE PS4 if you wait... Get it... I think you do have to pay a monthly fee for the PS4 but it is much better than paying for a spy. The PS4 is backwards compatible too right? I haven't really paid much attention to the new consoles, because I have a gaming PC and really don't have any desire to get these :P I do have a PS3 though.

Also, I much rather prefer the PS3 controller to be honest. The xbox is weird, one joystick WAY up at the top of the controller and one way at the bottom? Yuck. I have used 360 controllers too and hate them.

As somebody who chose the Xbox360 over PS3:

DON'T DO IT MAN. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Get the PS3 it has so many great games [That I want to plaaaaaay]. *grabby hands*

Not at all. They've talked about a streaming service that will make some older titles available through digital emulation, but don't count on more than a fraction of PS3 titles being available.

Im a Fan of the PS3.
I like the Controller and the Games for example Heavy rain.
I dnt have any Problems with the ps3.

Been meaning to get back to you guys here, but been so busy.

Thanks to you guys, I decided upon getting a PlayStation 3 as it does have better graphics, better exclusive titles, and a better controller. Thankyou guys so much for helping me out with this, but I must as of you guys again, which version of PS3 should I get? The original, Slim, or Super Slim?

Try to get a Slim if possible. I've heard of a lot of issues with the Super Slim.
