What are your rules when you have someone visiting your town? DO you let them run free, or prefer to keep an eye on them? I just started having visitors for the first time yesterday and was thrown off when people kept asking if it was ok to look around haha :lemon:

I prefer to keep an eye on them at first, and if they don't act too shifty I'll only wander around to make sure it's all intact :)

I follow them around if I'm not too trusting of them, then if I start trusting them, I'll let them roam around. Just as long as they don't run in my town! :)

I let my friends roam since I trust them. Strangers though I stay by and keep an eye on them. I mean I don't really have much to protect, but I just like to watch anyway because I'd rather not have a stranger running around unchecked in my town.

I feel bad about it sometimes. I don't like to play police or anything. But I just know better than to place trust into people I don't know. It sucks, but it's kinda just how it is.

Have you had any bad experiences?

I don't think you should feel bad though :3 Do you discuss with them ahead of time that you'd rather stay close?

every inch of my town is covered in hybrids, so i wouldn't really trust too many people in my town.

Usually I make note of it before opening my gates, but most people here seem to already expect it.

I haven't had a bad experience YET, but I'd like to avoid the potential for one. Most of my more random visits are usually for sales though, so I don't get many "roam requests"

On the flip side, I do like exploring my friends' towns and chatting up their villagers when I get bored, but I always ask first and promise not to run~ and I also ask if they'd prefer to follow me. Most of the time they don't since they know me a little better, and I tend to just kinda stroll about and make random remarks about how cute a villager is, etc.

Most people are like that, so I don't over-worry. Generally, peeps here are pretty nice. But you get those few bad apples so that's why I tend to play cop a bit~

I think its always polite when someone asks to look around, although if I have anyone over I always specify if they can or not. I usually keep an eye on the person and if they seem decent then maybe I'll let them wander off

It's honestly hard to trust people on this game so thats why I quite rarely have anyone over unless its a quick trade or picking up a villager. I actually haven't had anyone over just to hang out in forever..

I feel like this is true for a lot of people. I think people get kind of surprised when I ask to roam. But I like seeing the villagers others love and the ideas they implemented for their town. Even with my town basically finished, it's still very nice to see what others do~ and every now and then I pick up an idea or two that's simple enough for me to use.

But yeah, I hear you on this. I feel like very few visits nowadays are just to hang out and have fun.

i only play with my irl friend, and i completely trust her, so i'd let her wander around if she wanted to. the only time i interact with people on forums in game is for trading. but if i were to have rules, it'd definitely be to: follow me at all times, NO RUNNING i have hybrids everywhere, and basically just...don't take anything lmao.

I tend to follow people around more or less, I actually feel a bit awkward about being trusted alone in a stranger's town (I might just be weird though). I'm not all that concerned with theft since I keep anything I don't want to lose in storage but I feel like following people is kind of the thing to do just in case they need something. I have heard the occasional horror story about people who chop down all your trees but that would really take a while in my town and I tend to keep doubles of every hybrid I own in the museum so I can recover from anything fairly easily. I've even let the occasional stranger wander while I went AFK if I get interrupted by something. Why expect a worst case scenario every time? If nothing gets stolen during my rare AFK moments I make sure to mention it in the wifi rating and if one day something is stolen then I get to warn others (better me than someone who can't afford to lose their only hybrids).

I don't mind if people stop by the shops, I typically buy anything I really want before people visit. I sometimes even leave shops fully stocked if I'm expecting a guest just to be nice even if I have an alt character that needs mannequins.

I don't mind people talking to my villagers, I am honestly confused as to why anyone sees that as a problem but I guess some just really like squeaky clean original villagers with absolutely no tampering ever like some mint condition comic book with pages that will never see the light of day (I don't really get it but I can respect the rules of people that do this).

I don't even mind running really, grass grows back eventually and I have plenty of paths around my town so as long as hybrids don't get trampled then why stress about it? Most people forbid it though so I don't do it in other people's towns.

Thanks guys! This has all been super helpful. I feel like I have a better grasp on how this all works!
