'Tis the season to spend more than you're worth
falalalalalalala
on stuff that you'll wear for an hour and never again
falalalalalalalalala
that you're paying for the experience
is the general opinion
falalalalalalalalala
but without a date
you're the unfortunate one in a million
falalalalalalalala-laaaaaa

So, my friends promposed to me after I told them I wasn't gonna go because I wrecked my car. They all chipped in to pay for my ticket and my dress. It was actually a very beautiful and moving experience, and I love them all.
Though, I don't have a date because
idk i'm ugly i guess
I'm going to go. And it'll be fun. Darn it.

Anyone else going to prom? How are you paying for it? Bought your dress yet? Etc. Etc.

Im going to mine. Im going to stag because i am socially awkward....
anywho, my outfit will be a black jacket with black vest, pants and tie with turquoise button up and converse

I didn't go to the Prom at my school this year.

Sucks I know, considering that I'm a Junior now, but honestly it's too expensive (Like $80, jesus) and I was worn out this weekend, so I missed out on it.

I'd forgotten that I'm a junior and able to go to prom now until someone brought it up to me last week, but then I also found out that in order to go in my school you need to have a 95% attendance rate, which I'm sure I don't have so I'll probably have to miss out this time. Maybe next year, though.

I hope you have fun at yours! :)

Where I live, we only get one prom (kinda glad tbh) and it's when you graduate.

I went to mine and went with a few of my friends. I hope you enjoy yours and that it's drama free, cause mine sure as hell wasn't.

I'm going to prom this year too. My parents are forcing me to. They even bought me a dress. I haven't worn a dress in over 3 years nor have I ever been to a school dance. I haven't even had one date. I personally think it's too overwhelming. There's all this fuss about getting the right dress, styling your hair, and doing makeup (never used it either) when all I'll be doing is standing next to the snack counter and talking with friends.

i went last thursday! i have a boyfriend and he's just as awkward as i am, and we have awkward friends, so it made it really fun :-) i wore a light pink long flowy dress and i actually felt pretty wahaaaaat

but honestly it's not a big deal if it's not for you. if i didn't have my support system i wouldn't have gone, bc anxieties. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with not dancing.

I went to both my Junior and Senior prom. Senior prom was more fun than my junior prom was. Sometimes I just want to wear my prom dress for no reason because I still love it an awful lot, but I know if I did I would get a bunch of stares and weird looks :P

My school prom was two weeks ago and I didn't go. I think it was worth it because a lot of my classmates said it sucked. I heard people complaining about how the music sucked, how hot it was, how the bread tasted like poop and the chicken smelled like fish or something. Also, you had to pay $80 which was really expensive.

$80 dollars isn't that bad. Ours cost $150 plus you still need to get your outfit. I decided not to go because I recently started at this new school and hardly know anyone.

I never went to prom when I was in highschool it was expensive and there were so many stupid rules and ugh the people who I went to highschool with were heathens

I went to prom my junior and senior year. Our school only had prom for the seniors though so my junior year my senior friend asked me to go with him. Then my senior year I took the guy I was dating at the time, he was a year younger than myself.

Prom is stupid expensive with a $100 ticket, they don't serve you food so you go to a fancy dinner before, the dresses omg don't get me started, and I got my hair done by a stylist both times. It's so much money but I had a lot of fun both years. Despite the fact I hated about 80% of the people I was in high school with.

I actually think it can be more fun without a date! You can dance with whoever you want and not have to worry about someone else the whole night. But if you have someone special, having them there with you can be nice. If I could redo my senior prom, I would have dumped that stupid guy I was dating and gone by myself. I think I would have had more fun.

Well I went to my year 11 prom which was alright. :) I felt like a princess hahah, it was nice to get dressed up really nicely for a special occasion. It was really nice because all of the arseholes in my year decided not to go, so it was basically just all the people who I actually LIKED in my year group that went, which made the evening a lot more fun. Oh, and it was funny seeing my old Chemistry teacher get really drunk. But anyway it was fun, we went on a riverboat which was kinda cool. To be honest, most people make a big deal out of prom... It wasn't that memorable, but I still had fun nonetheless. I don't think I'll go to my year 13 prom, though, since I don't even know that many people at my new school, so I'll feel kinda like an outsider. :(

Edit: Oh and you didn't have to take a date to prom either which was good. But some boy asked me to prom and it was so awkward. I was just like: "I DUNNO IF I'LL GO" and I ran away. D: He was kind of weird so...

I would really like to see what dresses and tuxes everyone is going in. Sophomore and Junior year I wore the same dress, just tailored it differently, and Senior year I bought a super cute 50s vintage mesh dress and made a lace hat thingy out of an old shoulder pad. Turned out pretty cute! Senior year was the only time it was any fun because I went with my best friend, rather than a boyfriend.

Think it was maybe $40 or so to go, which wasn't bad. Prom was fun to experience, but if you don't go, you really aren't 'missing' anything.

The best part of my prom was the god tier chocolate covered strawberries.
The worst part was the last song being Taylor Swift smh.

edit: oh no accidently stepping on my gal's dress many times throughout the night was pretty lame too. i felt so bad lol

I missed out on my prom, and my graduation. I wasn't in school during that time. I regret it a lot, even though prom sounds like a huge fuss and is probably the most unnecessarly expensive event you could go to, it's also one of the last times you'll see all the people you've spent four (or more) years with. It's like a classy goodbye party. Plus it gives you a reason to dress up with your friends and dance like maniacs. XD. I guess people chose not to go because they didn't find a date, but in all other dances even if I did have a date I honestly spent the whole night with my friends.
But yeah it sucks I couldn't go, and if yours is coming soon you should definitely go, even if you don't have a date, just go have fun with your friends and feel pretty, (guys too! XD) and dance, and celebrate the fact that finaaallllyyyyy, I'm almost done with HighSchool... Woohoooo!!!! ... Unless you're still a Junior. In that case, sorry.

Yikes, what happened?

This is actually really interesting to hear. A lot of people were saying that there was no point in going stag, but if you're willing to release your inhibitions going stag could be much better. <:

No, I'm a senior, and you put that perfectly. It is like our big goodbye party... After Prom, all we have is Senior Breakfast and Graduation and then a whole lot of people are gonna be out of my life forever...! I better live it up while I can!
