Do you ever project personalities onto your villagers due to movies/characters they remind you of? One of the main reasons I never warmed up to Marshal was I got it in my head that he was like the angry cigar smoking baby from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and from then on everything he said just grated on me.

Walker just reminds me of my lazy puppy. The resemblance with the two makes him so much fun to have as a villager.

Haha yeah I'm not a fan of the dog characters, but Walker is very cute. I can't believe how few replies this topic has, I really thought more people would do this!

I project this personality onto Beardo where he's just some middle-aged man out of the loop desperately trying to get in the now and be "cool" but his obvious age just makes it feel awkward and forced. Also he's very flamboyant and interested in typically femme coded things.
He's just really lame but he has a big, big heart.

Lobo reminds me of our old pet kitten. we gave him away to a family because my brother has allergies and now he's not a kitten anymore! they do have similarities at least to me they do

Olaf is Michael Jackson to me, just because of his Jheri curl, and the some of the smug lines "I think we need more dancing going on here." His current catchphrase is "Who's bad?" I really love him. ^-^

I do this all the time, though not just with movies and things...
Though I admit, one of the reasons I got Zucker is that a friend of mine started calling him OctoBro, ala Octodad, and imagined that he came from a perfectly normal human family of mother, father, older sibling (probably a girl), none of whom suspected he was really an octopus delicious takoyaki. Eventually, fearing that he'd be unable to keep up the secret, he fled to a new town. Now, he just has to make sure his hungry neighbors don't learn that they can take a bite out of him.

I have little headcanons like that for all of my villagers except maybe Anabelle and/or Baabara, depending on my mood, though most of them aren't as derivative.

Oh, totally. One of the reasons I got super attached to Bunnie really fast is because my best friend's nickname is Bunny and if she were a villager she would also be peppy. So I kind of conflate the 2 together!

Oh, I definitely do this! My main town's on a Parks and Recreation theme, so most of my villagers I associate with characters from the show; I've fixed their catchphrases to make this happen even more. It definitely makes playing more entertaining
