I can understand going for an oldschool sound. But I can't understand why the hell they'd would actually use the same quality sound. >_> They could have at least made it sound a little more like modern quality music, or made remixes of older songs with updated quality. Ugh. And to think, the other day I had a dream that I played Project Needlemouse and it was actually good to me. To bad it can't be real...
And it's likely going to be called Sonic 4, have no crush 40, no new characters, etc.
Plus, it's be super badass if it was the old quality.
Why would lower quality ever be better than higher quality?! I understand that people like classic music, but you can still have classic music that's better quality and it can still have that same feeling, if not better. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of old 8- and 16-bit music, but if the developers had the technology available to them at the time, the music would sound much better. I mean, just listen to this...

Same song, yet the SA2 version is so much better.
I still like the Genesis version.
So do I, but I like the SA2 version more. It's higher quality and has more instruments, and it's slightly more upbeat.

It can't compete with the original though.

Yes. I do.
I third that.

Orchestrated music beats 8-bit music. It may not be as iconic as the very first song, but it sounds so much better.

Some of the best game music is 8-Bit, give me the soundtrack of Megaman 2 over Brawl any day, it doesn't matter how much they spent to make the music it's what they did with what they had.

Not to say the music from today's era is bad, but I think 8-Bit and 16-Bit eras are the definitive eras when I think of great game music.

8 bit isn't necissarily better, it's contextual.

You have to go so much deeper into it to discover the standerd, and 'better' will always be opionated
