Problem with people vising my town

First, I need to know which tutorial you want the DMZ or Port Forwarding. Also, I would get on your game first, and before you click continue there should be an option called update data. Try this. Some people have said that it works. If that doesn't work then we'll move onto the other steps.

I want the easier one. I have the ds updated and all, but i'll try to do that while in game.

If you want the easier one, we'll have to get your IP. To do this you need to,

1. Go to your search bar in start
2. type cmd
3. Once the black box opens type ipconfig
*This will then give you multiple lines of text, we need IPv4.
*DO NOT CLOSE THIS BOX WE NEED MORE INFO OFF OF IT*

You will need to assign this IP to your 3DS, to do this,
1. Go into system settings.
2. Delete your current internet settings
3. Manually set up your internet
4. When it asks for your IP address, enter the IPv4.

Now that we have the IP address we will need to get the Default Gateway. To do this,
1. Look at the black box again
2. There should be something that says default gateway with some numbers after it.
3. Write down the numbers (With all punctuation)

We are now going to access the routers settings. To do this,
1. Now open your internet browser
2. In the address bar type the numbers (With all punctuation) that you got for the default gateway
3. You may have to enter the username and password for the router
*If you did not assign a username and password for your router try,
Username: admin
Password: password
**If the above does not work, you may have a username and password assigned. If this is the case you will
have to get that information.**

Now that you have your router setting open we will need to locate the DMZ or the "Demilitarized Zone" setting.
*This is often located under Firewall, Virtual Server, Security, or Applications and Gaming.*
Now you just need to select the option to enable this feature.
*Don't for get to save*

That is the best I can do to explain. If you have more specific questions let me know.

Sorry this took so long, I had my term paper due this week. I wasn't able to do much else.

Nvm i found the update data part, but nope, did not work. Pleace, i really need this help..

I checked this with my own, and I had to remove the last digit on the end. That should work.

It should bring you to your setting for the router. If you get the IP for the Default gateway it will have an extra digit on it. When you type it in remove the last digit. That would be the only reason you are getting nothing. You will also be prompted to enter a username and password. That will appear first.

What username and password?

Would this thing just be easier if i contact nintendo, can they do all these things for me, becouse im really starting to loose my faith here, even with help i cant seem to make the connection to work.

My laptop doesen't use any usernames or passwords.

This doesn't matter if you use a username and password or not on your laptop. This is purely for the router.

If it would be easier for you to contact Nintendo go right ahead. I don't know what they will recommend or if it will help the problem, but it can't make it worse.

What would i excactly have to tell them about this problem, im not sure how to word it excactly. Could you help me with that? Thank you for being so patient with me with this aa

If the error message has a number, like "Error 081-A", that's the main thing they would need to know.

As Mookie said they will need the error code. You will also need to tell them exactly what is happening. Just tell them that you can visit other Animal Crossing towns, but no one can visit yours. Then tell them what error code you are getting.

No problem. I understand how frustrating it is when you can't access one of the most important parts of the game and not being sure how to fix it. I just wish I could do more for you.

Ok, where can i message them?

I've not looked over the thread so not sure what people have already tried helping with, but you can phone Nintendo support or email them...

UK Phone: 0345 60 50 247
UK Email: customer-support@nintendo.co.uk
US Phone: 855-877-9099
Couldn't find a US email, they have a sort of "knowledge base" thing instead... http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/contact

Elsewhere: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/assets/region_select.jsp then click support tab at the top then hunt down a contact link unfortunately the different Nintendo websites have slightly different layouts!

Edit: That last one, seems you can click "Internet Connections" then "Nintendo 3DS Family" then pick an option from the drop down and it'll give you the best way to get in touch! Nifty.
