Is anyone else concerned about the price for ACNH?
$60 is a lot. I know that New Leaf goes for about $20 right now, but I was young when it came out and don't remember the price; was it that high? Are switch games normally that expensive (I don't own a lot of switch games)? What are everyone's thoughts on this?

It'll be $90.38 (79.99 plus tax) for me. Nintendo Switch games are more expensive to produce, and develop. They'll have a retail price to match that. I'll purchase any game I know I'll enjoy to support the developers hard work.

Yes, Switch games are normally about $60. $60 is about the average price for a console game and has been for years (since about PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era - was more like $50 for a few generations before that). So video games have actually been getting cheaper over time because of inflation.

I honestly think it's quite cheap because of how many hours of fun I'll get out of this. There's $60 games that you can easily be finished with in 20-40 hours. Sometimes less.

All major Switch games are $60 USD. New Leaf was $35 USD when I bought it on release day. Most 3DS games cost $40 at release, so I?m not really sure why NL was $5 cheaper, but I didn?t expect that to happen again with NH.

In New Zealand is costs $100, its quite expensive but I definately think that it will be worth it

I think it's quite well priced. Not expensive for what it should cost in today's Market. Plus Walmart has the game for $49.99

XE.com (a currency converter) says that $80 Australian Dollars is about $52 USD. So you Aussies are actually paying a comparable price to the Americans... slightly cheaper even.

The New Zealander who said $100 New Zealand Dollars - that's about $63 USD. Slightly higher.

Looks like Nintendo tried to make the price about comparable for everyone though.

I think its standard. I can definitely see the price dropping, as do most Switch games and all Animal Crossing games after release.

They do? I see it as $59.99 on Walmart.com.

...oh. Brickseek says in-store they will be charging $49.94 for it in my area. Weird.

People have living expenses and whatnot, and $80 isn't cheap. :(

Yes, Walmart always sells the games for $10 cheaper in store. I am not sure why.

Its pretty comparable to other switch games and not to mention, I was in the play store on my 3DS thinking I'd get some deals on old 3DS games but they all still go for $40-50.

Yeah! It's crazy that you guys have to spend that much. Then again, I had to spend roughly $85 for my copy from EB.

Definitely not the case in Canada. $79.96 (plus tax) for me. I think Walmart mostly does this to beat out competitors (Video Game Stores, etc).

I am well aware of living expenses. I am an adult that owns a house with a mortgage and such. I did not say $80 was cheap. However, if you like Animal Crossing, the entertainment value for dollars spent versus hours of fun makes it quite cheap compared to other luxury entertainment, like going out to movie theaters, paying for concert or sports game tickets, or, well, even other video games.

Many people do say a certain amount of your monthly expenses should go towards entertainment.

$60 is pretty standard. I can agree it sucks, especially for kids, but that's pretty average for video games now. New leaf seemed expensive to me at the time, but I was also in high school when that came out and not working like I am now. I would love not to spend so much money on a game upfront (I'm probably going to be picking up a guide and as many amiibo card packs as I can), I know animal crossing is something that I'm going to enjoy for years, so I'm less angy at the price. I got way more out of NL than I spent on it throughout the years.

I didn't mean to imply you didn't understand what living expenses are.
I'm also an adult with the same expenses and a few others (health and whatnot).

I don't mind paying the $80, it just would have been nice if the game was complete. As in holidays not being downloadable events.

I have absolutely no issue paying premium price for any high-profile Nintendo release, that I'll more than likely get 1000 hours out of at least.

I've put over 350 hours into BOTW, MK and MM2 and about 250 into Mario Odyssey (only games I own).

That's value for money if ever I've seen it. Nope, price not a factor for me.
