Pre-order bonuses

Is it me, or are in-game pre-order bonuses lame?
Like, I understand that you want people to buy your game but, is it really necessary to offer this stage/character when you pre-order? Getting cool items like hats, posters and figures are one thing, but depriving some people of content because they didn't put down $5 to reserve a copy of your game is another.

Like Batman's Dem Bones map? Yeah, it probably sucks, but it sucks worse when one console gets DLC for a Multiplatform game. EX: GTA IV's Episodes from Liberty City

I thought they were timed exclusives?
Like, they'll come out eventually, but a specific console gets it first.

I don't believe so. I know for a fact Modern Warfare 2 has timed exclusives for the Xbawx and Fallout 3 PS3 owners recently got all the DLC for it.

The point is not what the bonus is, but rather the fact that people who don't pre-order it, can't get the content.
