I've got a villager who's moving in at some point. I already plot reset the first day after he agreed to move in (from the campsite) and he didn't appear. Now, my town is not on the current time/date for certain reasons, and anyways I left my game for awhile on that first day for about 12 hours, and came back to it just now.

My character was in the museum, and it was 9 AM of the second day. I had apparently forgotten to save and quit, and not knowing what to do, I saved and quit right then.

Since the 6 AM transition-to-the-next-day never happened because my player was in the museum the whole time, would my villager have already permanently plotted at this point or can I still plot reset for him?

Heya!

When you invite someone from the campsite, it always takes two days for them to plot their house (though I've heard of it taking longer when you time-travel). They never show up the very next day.

As for your question, I fear the villager will already have picked a permanent spot and that plot resetting is no longer possible. Seeing as how it was 9am when you returned to your game, the transition to the next day did actually happen. I'm pretty darn sure it doesn't matter that you were inside the museum the whole time. So the game most likely saved at 6am. But even if it didn't, I think the fact that you saved and quit when you returned to your game at 9am screwed you over regardless.

Anyway, the only real way to check is to start plot resetting and see if their house ends up in different places. If they stick to one spot over and over again, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it!
