I had Marshal in my town and I knew people thought he was cute but I didn't realize that he was that popular until I offered to trade him and got about 20 reply messages in 5 minutes XD

My starters were Stitches and Marina. And I managed to get Merengue through the campsite and I loved her design. No idea that any of these were super popular.

I had Kid Cat and Mira before I started looking online about the game or joined a forum I think, I just liked them. Actually I'd say most of the people on my list I put on my "list" just because I liked them, not because they were popular, though a lot of them were? I do know that once I started looking at the popularity lists it kinda made me judge new campers differently. Instead of just looking at them as "oh they're kinda cute, maybe I will invite them in" instead I compared them to the all-time cutest.
