Popular villagers you had before knowing they were popular

Thinking about the first New Leaf town I made before joining this forum,
I ended up resetting it after like 15 minutes because I hated the map and my character.
(Now I only hate my character, hahaha).

But oh man was I lucky with the villagers... I remember seeing Beau and Bam and Lolly at my tree planting ceremony. And there was Tia in town too.
I had NO idea they were popular! I didn't even like them much appart from Beau and Bam who I thought looked adorable. It was my first time seeing deer villagers.

And in Wild World I had countless populars... Rosie was one of my starter villagers (never liked her much though, oddly).

What villagers did you have in some of your AC towns before you knew they were popular?

I started off with Stitches and Tia on NL. Stitches moved away (I didn't care at the time) and I ended up trading Tia to someone (before knowing how popular she was). XD

Merengue and Chrissy. Both of them were in my very first town, before I was recommended to this site (ty JellyBeans!), so I reset.

I have Stitches in my town in NL. He's one of my original five and I had no idea that he was popular until I started being on the NL boards on gamefaqs. I was thinking of letting him go, but I got super attached all of a sudden and now I won't let him go ever. xD

uhh.. does fang count? he wasnt an original villager but I noticed he was in boxes while visiting a friend and asked if I could take him. I had no idea he was as popular as he is.

I started with Merengue but I didn't like her so I gave her to my friend. My friend also had Marshal in her campsite in January and we had no idea who he was, but she got him because she liked how he looked.
My first nine villagers also included Roscoe, Rudy, Agnes and Lopez who aren't super popular but generally liked I think, and I love them all anyways.

plus phoebe, but i still have her. i didn't know she was popular until a few weeks ago.

Diana and Fauna.
I remember resetting towns a lot and I had come across Diana and Fauna and I really liked them. Of course, I don't have any of my towns from June anymore.

Uhh, I had Mira & Shep around the beginning of the game xD They were more popular than I realized at that point, but not so much anymore 8D Ohwell. I also saw Erik in my campsite but I didn't take him in cause I didn't know. o~o In WW I had Rosie, Wolfgang, and Lucky but I never realized they were popular then haha. I didn't even like Wolfgang cause he was cranky & not that cute LOL.

Marshal was my smug move in for my main town, I remember going into his house and seeing him for the first time thinking ahh cute squirrel .. he turned around.. I thought whoa creepy eyes! but then I got to know him and got used to him, thought he was super sweet then joined here. I couldn't believe he was so popular, mostly because I'd got him haha >_<

I wanted Erik before I knew how popular he was. My dog's name is Eric, and they have the same look on their face. I only recently got him though.

In New Leaf, that would have to go to Zell. I thought he was cool, but I didn't know how others would respond.

In older games, I didn't think that Stitches, Lucky, Pekoe, or Lolly would be crazy popular either.

Marshal and Skye...I miss both of them a lot still.
