So if Crys drops out then the HB is Crash (but I think she have up on a Popsicle too)
So the HB would be m3ow_ with 2.4k?
I'm sorry if I'm wrong guys lol. :')
I didn't think people would drop out ah man. ;A;

maybe you should VM crash, cause I think she might want it & she deserves it cause she's been looking longer C:

Basically if you bid in an auction you have entered into a contract. Although this is virtual, the rules either need to be in OP or followed through. Both buyer and seller are required to stand by their offer.

Yeah I already did. :3
She may have dropped out too since she gave up on the Popsicle.

Ah okay, though I didn't put anything in the OP so would it be okay if they retract their bid?

Okay so Crash dropped out too so m3ow_ you are the highest bidder. ^^

I have read everyone's comments about me in numerous threads and not just in the Marketplace. The nerve of auctions being allowed just floors me.

Honestly why don't you simply contact your bidders and if they all agree to start over then do so. I read your post dated Nov 6 and you knew there was a demand for popsicles. Close this thread then sell or give to any member you want. End of story.

shouldve added a rule to "stick with ur bid once entered/dont bid more than what u have" because it kind of gets ur hopes up only to be let down later :/

Yeah I do know, that's why I'm holding the auction (I said a couple of times that I'm doing it so at least one person can get a Popsicle since there have been people searching for them). I'll just start over then I guess if it's okay.

um, well I don't know what to do now. I wasn't planning on going any higher. I have a feeling I will be outbid since this doesn't end until tomorrow night. I was planning on bidding in the other auction, the one that ends in less than an hour. :/

oh wait, so you're ending this auction?

Umm yeah I think that's the best way? I'll just close this thread and make a new one that will end on Tuesday if that's okay.

it's an animal crossing forum site, i really don't think someone backing out will get you sued, its your auction lol.

Keep in mind the rules tho
make sure this reason is valid enough

Rules and Guidelines said:
Auctions
Our auction guidelines apply to auctions of items and villagers in Animal Crossing, as well as auctions in TBT Marketplace. They are designed to keep auctions fair for both buyers and sellers, yet also give auctioneers freedom to create their own rules.

Rules for an auction must be clearly set and followed by both the bidder and auctioneer. As an auctioneer, if you wish to reserve special rights, please specify your reason for doing so in your original post before bidding begins. Otherwise, the auction should follow the default rules listed below.

Bidders are subject to accept all rules posted by the auctioneer. If a bidder disagrees with special rights reserved by the auctioneer, he or she should not participate.
Auctioneers may only accept bids that are posted in the auction thread. No PM or VM bids may be accepted.
Auctions posted on The Bell Tree should not also be made on another site. Not only does this waste the bidders' time, they should not be required to check another site for bidding purposes.
Increasing or decreasing auction time is not allowed by default. It is considered a special right and must be reserved in the auctioneer's original post before bidding begins.
The last person to bid on an auction within the scope of its rules and time limits is the winner. Auctioneers cannot choose another winner even if someone else makes a better offer after it ends.
Auctioneers are expected to see their auctions through to the end. Unless valid reasoning is provided, an auction cannot be canceled. Otherwise, the auction winner may give the host negative feedback for failing to complete the sale.
Winners are obligated to complete the purchase after they are determined to be the winner. If he or she backs out of the transaction, the auctioneer may leave negative feedback.

Thanks for your input Gravy, though I think it's best if I close this thread, everyone just seems to be getting mad, confused or frustrated because of this (probably because of me and my noob mistakes).

Oh my, thanks for this! I just read through. I'm not sure if there's a good enough reason to end it though. >.<

Rules are set in place for a reason. I believe someone posted them. They keep chaos from happening.....most of the time.

Would it be okay if I close this thread and start a new thread for the auction? That wouldn't be breaking the rules I believe, since the auction wasn't cancelled but just moved to a new thread. Is that okay for everyone?

if both the bidder and auctioneer are okay with it, i don't see why retracting a bid should be
that big of a deal. it just lowers the HB and gives other people that have been outbid another chance,
which should be a good thing, right? i mean, retracting a bid really only negatively
affects the auctioneer. so if that person is okay with it, it shouldn't really be an issue imo.
i personally don't think you need to cancel/redo the auction either, unless it's just to start
fresh. all that matters is that the remaining bidders know the current highest bid and who it
belongs to. especially if you're worried about the rules, i wouldn't bother with redoing it.

on a side note, i'm sorry for backing out if it caused this much of a problem. i only did so because i had
already been outbid and given up on getting a popsicle, plus m3ow deserves it more than me anyway.

I'm assuming it'll be fine to restart the auction if all the bidders are okay with it, however, you'll have to stick with the end date time you had originally put which is November 9th (Monday) at 10pm EST time and you won't be able to add any new rules according the the guidelines since the auction had already started. I have already reported the thread so a mod can give you a definite answer c: Good luck everyone! <3

lol yea but rules are rules i guess, although i don't see why they can't be overseen in a situation like this, i don't see anyone having a problem with the auction :P

Oh yeah you're right ah, no new rules can be added. >.<
Darn this has caused a lot of trouble and confusion, I'm sorry everyone. ;-;
Thanks Miharu, hopefully a mod can tell me what I should do. I just hope I didn't do anything bad that'll get me in trouble. ;A;

Everyone quoting the rules is obviously correct but I'll just sum up the main points here for future auctions.

Whatever you put in the OP is set in stone - avoid changing rules at all. If your OP says there is no end time, you do not need an end time, you just aren't allowed to change it once you've put it there. (you might get away with it if no one has bid yet but once someone does you are locked to whatever it says)

Backing out of a bid is not allowed. If you do so you have the right be given a negative wi-fi rating from the auctioneer or may receive a warning under specific circumstances.

Do not post in an auction saying the price is too high or any other kind of complaint. If you don't like it don't participate.

That being said this thread is such a mess I think it would be best if you just made a new auction. You can either stick with the planned end time and current highest bid (make sure you contact whoever that is to make sure they still want to bid, as they might have thought they were outbid before). Otherwise just start fresh, and it would be polite to contact anyone who bid too so they are aware of this.

Thanks
