In my game they are more elusive than stringfish
I fished every fish available in the ponds except it when I see small shadow it's always a tadpole
for the wharf roach maybe I'm searching the wrong place beach rocks are the dark grey ones I think?

Wharf roach are on the rocks around the outline of the island, yes! They swarm together and are a dark-ish brown(?)

If you're having trouble with the popeye goldfish, might I suggest using bait to spawn in more fish to see if that could be one?

Wharf Roaches are on the big flat grey rocks on your beach.

According to my Critturpedia, pop-eyed goldfish are active from 9 AM - 4 PM and are found in ponds. This is a great spot to use bait. They are a smaller shadow. I fished mine up recently, so that is the only reason why I remember fish shadow specifics. :lemon:

ok so I guess it's just bad luck
thanks for all the replies ^_^
gosh I was even able to catch char and stringfish for several times...

I'm at the ground level and I catched ranchu more than once
since they're on the same time frame this puzzeles me the most
