Poor Unloved "Ugly" Villagers!

We all know there are multiple villagers out there who are ugly, and we'd say ewww I hope I never see that thing in my town! Most people if they get one in their town they treat them super terribly until they move out ex. net hitting, mean letters, ignoring them etc. I totally understand the hate for these villagers but I try to most out of it! I had Walt in my town for about half a year! I did not like him, but I treated him just like all my other villagers. It's sill fun and nice to build a friendship with villagers you dislike. They tend to grow on you a little, and when they do finally ask to leave you feel good, because yes you still likely want them gone, but at least you had good times while they were around, and made the most out of the situation!

I recently took in Tabby (yeah I know not the most appealing cat). I only took her in, because her house plot showed up as my 9th villager on the same day that Rosie decided to camp out. So it was either a) reset and lose both Tabby and Rosie, or b) save and take in Tabby for the meantime as well. I do not like Tabby, but even after a couple days of building a bit of a friendship I'm ok with her. I will still let her move when she asks, but until then she is happily welcome in my town.

What's your opinion on these poor unloved "ugly" villagers?

It depends. I'll most likely talk to them and possibly let them grow on me. I'd ignore them with my second char to get them out though ;D

At a certain point it loops beyond ugly back into adorable imo. I want Barold and Hippeux in my town!

If they really scare me, I just avoid them altogether. Like Coco. My gosh, if I ever get her in my town, I will have a mental breakdown.

I'm an advocate for "ugly" villagers (lets remember that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder) some of my favorites are pretty unpolular and ugly: Rasher, Vic, Soleil, Angus, etc. I like those because they look like older animals instead of super pretty, super cute, fuzzy wuzzy marshall, stitches (ugh!) or merengue. I want my town full of animals that are rough and mature looking. Even their letters are more likable to me than say, Merry, most of her letters where about her being the star of the town and I was her #1 fan or something, she was pretty annoying to me. Instead, as soon as I got a high friendship with Rasher, he started writing about how grateful he was we were friends, and that I could always count on him. Granted, they're pixels but I rather read about that than about a silly cute airhead. YMMV.
P.D. If you ever need to get rid of Tabby, I'll take her! She looks like is a lot of fun.

I tried to make the most of it at first, but I just couldn't stand looking at them anymore. All my ugly villagers have the catch phrase "kill me" now. It makes me feel better when i have to talk to them. Luckily one of my most hated (Vlad) is moving out this week.

There are no ugly villagers, like I don't understand why you are all going around saying "I love this ugly villager, haha he is so ugly and love him despite his ugliness!" That's rude and it makes me sick.

If you truly love that villager, then you see through their supposed ugliness and think of them as the most beautiful thing to ever lay your eyes on.

All the same, I'd argue that you don't have to think a villager is visually attractive in order to like them. I could never describe Marcel the mime dog as beautiful, to be frank I think he's hideous, but I still enjoy having him in my town. His design has... character.

There are some villagers I just refuse to like.. Tiffany, Monique, Truffles, Tabby and Tangy being the big five from WW.. I hate their existence

But villagers that a lot of people think are ugly, I personally adore (Rocket & Charlise being the big ones)

I really didn't even know they were that unpopular until I joined this forum.
All of the hippos and gorillas seem to be hated. (my favorite species)
I don't really mind, I just wish they got more love.

The only villagers that I personally find ugly are Ankha and Tangy.
There is just something about their eyes...ughhh. Right now I am abusing Tangy in my town.

Cesar is one of my favourites of my current villagers. Dat 'tache. I also don't see why Hippeaux is so hated. He looks a bit weird, yes, but that's because he's a bright yellow hippo. I quite like the rhinos too, although I let Renee go a while ago.
I find a lot of the less popular species to be more interesting actually. I'd rather have interesting than cute in my town.

I have to admit I kind of love the "uglies". When I first got Rodney I thought he was creepy as heck, but after a while he made it to my most loved list. I also adore Curt and Vladimir. I know a lot of people hate Hazel but she's the one townie I really went ut of my way to get and she's the absolute sweetest! I think I have a soft spot for underdogs though.

I got Pancetti from a Streetpass recently and was furious - wouldn't have minded so much but she ruined my town with her awful house placement. I think she's a pretty unknown/obscure character (haven't heard of her much around here), so for those who don't know, this is what she looks like:

I don't really do anything mean to her though, it's not her fault she's so ugly. It is her fault she put her house there, but she can't help the ugly part. So I just accepted the fact that her eyesore of a house is gonna be there for quite some time now and probably throw a party when she leaves.

In the meantime, I treat her like everyone else, because to me it always feels like my "friend" villagers try to move out quicker, so I'm just gonna be friends with her and hope she leaves soon.

I agree with you! I've had "ugly" people in my town before, and after bonding with them, I've actually come to love them. Unfortunately, many mayors throw away such an opportunity.

There are many, many villagers which I do not want in town. It kinda depends on who they are, usually I will talk to them if they're decent looking.

Villagers such as Barold, Beardo, and Charlise...that's another story. But Monique, Tammi, any of the cows I'd probably talk to like a normal villager. Doesn't mean I won't be happy to see them back their bags!

"Ugly" villagers are actually very nice to have if you look outside of the box, or, beyond their image. I had Diva at some point in time, but her conversation with Angus had made for a good laugh (she can't smile sweetly, only creepy smiles). I thought about TTing her out of town when I first met her, but it would be amusing to just keep her around to scare any players who walk into my town instead, lol. Tabby makes for a good Halloween/Spooky/Creepy themed town too. xD

I'm sad to say that the pontificating manner of your post is rude, judgmental, and makes ME sick. You are not the penultimate authority of how people should think, behave, or believe simply because you do.

I hate when people are mean to "ugly" villagers it's not like their personalities are any different from your most favorite villagers. Sure they may not be our favorite but they don't deserve to be hated on so much. That's just violent.
