The way you pronounce Rayquaza is correct, though.

That's entirely based on Pokedex 3D Pro, which has some errors in it, at least if you realize the origin of the monster's name. There are also some Japanese names that are used in the English version, yet the English voice in 3D Pro pronounces it differently (like Arceus - Ar-say-us (JP) vs Ar-kee-us (EN)).

Another good example is Elgyem, which is just the pronunciation of LGM (Little Green Men). 3D Pro uses a hard G, like in grass.

So it's not really a good thing to base pronunciations on.

Of course there are going to be some discrepancies with certain pronunciations listed in the guide, as that's bound to happen with any type of translation and more so when these are not real words. The vast majority of the listed pronunciations are correct, at least as I've heard and understood them.

I pronouced Raquaza as Ray-quay-zar for the longest time. I don't know why, it doesn't have a r at the end of it's name. Same with Rattata, I used to call it Rat-ah-tat.

I don't know the right way to say it, but Kie-reem and Kee-ru-em are the 2 ways I hear it the most on YouTube.

OK HERE WE GO (tho fyi most of these are because i was lazy and couldnt be ****ed learning how to say their names properly until they appeared in the anime LOL;

- when ruby and sapphire first came out, I didn't know how to pronounce makuhita, namely. Excuse it's name was too long and I was too lazy to read it all and I was like 8 or 9 and I think I pronounced it mar-ku-ta, I didn't know it's proper name until it appeared in the anime. I knew I was pronouncing it wrong all along though, so now sure if that counts.
- I pronounced jirachi as Ji-ra-kai
- Raikou as rai-koo (not that huge a deal)
- I pronounced groudon as groo-don and kyogre as Kai-oga-ree and then when my friends were pronouncing them differently I was like "yea groodon is it's name before it's awakened, and when you awaken it it's called groudon, and it's called kaiogaree before it's awakened, and kyogre after it's been awakened" lol good times
- I used to pronounce meganium as meg-nanium and banette as ban-a-tee
- Tropious as trop-e-us (or trop-e-es)*
- Gardevoir as Guard-e-voor*
- Combee as com-bee (as com as in .com not kome)*
- Torterra as To-re-terra
- Ludicolo was Lud-i-colo (lud pronounced like as oin flood)*
- Lucario - luck-a-rio
- Not a biggie here like I know its Salamence but I say Salamance

- I know pokemon like cyrogonal and druddigen i didnt even bother learning how to pronounce until the anime because too many letters LOL

- I may have pronounced Suicine as Sue-kaine but im not too sure on that one

- Whimsicott and Doredia (I forget its english name but its the counterpart to whimsicott), these were again like cryogonal and druggigen as in 'too many letters)
-- to elaborate on the above point, I was in Japan in September/October 2010 when the game released there so I picked it up whilst over there and spent a **** tonne of time playing it, so I'm really familar with Gen5 Japanese names, and honestly don't even know many of their english names (usually when I see a picture of them their Japanese name comes to mind first, followed by their English name, and some of them I don't even know the english name for). Not really relevant to 'pronouncing' but I think its interesting

For example.
Many people pronounce Pancham how it is spelt. However since the Bamboo forest episode aired loads of people pronounce it pan-ch-em [thanks anime ._.]

OMG I don't wanna steer this board the wrong way, but my friend literally the other day said onigiri was a jelly donut, and when I corrected him he laughed and was like "oh I guess that's what happens when they westernize Pokemon too hard", because of that one episode in the Indigo League, I think the Ash gets Mankey/Primape episode

but as for pkmn, it took me a half second to get Vivillon together, there's a lot of repeating letters. Any ancient mispronounces have been long forgotten by me
