exactly, they were rare, now they're not as rare, therfore ruining the supply and demand effect.

Alright, so let's say there's only one pikachu in the world, and you had it. Then, people start making fake copies that look exactly like the real thing, now your pikachu isn't worth crap anymore, where as before since it was the only one in the world it was worth a whole lot.
