Pokémon Pokemon GO (Android/iOS 2016)

I'd be very excited to see them use location information from your phone to determine what kind of pokemon you're capable of finding.

That way you wouldn't be able to find all of the pokemon just by wandering around your house, you'd actually have to go explore your town a little bit, or even trade.

Also I got a VERY big Digimon movie vibes from that Mewtwo part. It actually got me a little teary eyed if I'm being honest.

You might not have to. The trailer on,y showed pokemon in the first gen, so you may on,y be able to catch the first 151 pokemon.

I was going by Luffy's rogersbase quote listing other gens there, but I assume there will be updates or something, and it starts with just gen 1.

Also, does anyone else think this might appear on the NX too - if that is truely going to be a handheld and home console in one.

I thought the NX was supposed to be for mobile (phone-wise) anyway?? This would be a perfect game for the new system :)

wait..i still have no idea what this app is all about? how can we catch a pokemon? and also, DID THAT MAN JUST CAUGHT A CHARIZARD WITH A POKEMON ON A SINGLE TRY?!

I am so excited about this :) it looks really neat! It's definitely a concept I've been waiting for years to see. The augmented reality is going to make it pretty much just like finding them in real life, I hope they come out with glasses or something that are bluetooth so we don't have to look through our phones the whole time!

Well nothing's been irrevocably confirmed yet has it? Some people think it's a new main console, others (and me) think it's just a mobile games platform.
Either way though, I'd be happy if Pokemon GO is on it, because I don't like touchscreen phones.

I expect this is going to be a lot less exciting as the trailer makes it out to be. I dunno, without more to go off it doesn't really get me hyped for it. The trailer didn't really show me anything about the actual game itself.

This looks cool but does look limited to the first 151 Pok?mon. :(

It wouldn't surprise me if gen 1 is at least the only gen available at launch. It makes sense if they start with gen 1 both because it was the first generation of Pokemon and because a lot of the smartphone user market they're hoping to get hooked on Nintendo apps are the 'gen wunners' who haven't touched the games since around r/b and g/s.

Oh, okay. I guess it could be either one then... :)

Yay, another reason for people to be addicted to their cell phones... I don't see the big hype about this. I mean it's just an app.

I'm not thinking it will be like a main game to be honest. It's quite cool but I can't see myself putting hours and hours into the game unless it really is like a main game. I think you can catch Pokemon by going out (I might do that a couple times) and level them up when catching others or battling (if levelling is even a thing) so I don't think there's much to be done when I'm home which is when I play the games. Trading and battling would be done with friends I imagine so I'll only go on it if they do too.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to be a main game either. Just looks like another pointless Pokemon app for our phones.
