Ah you got a female starter on your 1st try also? My mudkip (now Marshtomp) is female. And somehow all the pokemon that I sneaked up on except for Surskit ( now Masquerain) are female
I've noticed the same thing, I feel like I'm seeing a lot of the rarer genders in relation to the pokemon. I have a female Grovyle, and almost all the pokemon I've ever happened to want to catch are female, except for my Skitty which is actually male when they're usually female.
It's probably just coincidence, but I find it weird.

Another way to transfer pokemon over is to put a weak/generic pokemon up on the gts from ORAS asking for whatever pokemon you're wanting to transfer. Like put a zigzagoon up on the GTS asking for a level 80+ charizard. Go into X/Y, use the GTS, find that zigzagoon, and trade. If somebody theoretically gets to it first, you still get a level 80+ charizard, so no harm done. Just keep in mind you can't transfer mega stones.
