I'm one of the kids the grew up playing Red and Blue. Breeding has always been a part of the game, but the newer games seem to have made it... over-complicated. I feel that this takes away from the game itself, and it tends to make me a bit sad to think about.

The fact that Pokemon are bred and thrown away to make "the perfect Pokemon". Even though it doesn't show up as a problem in the game, it often makes me think about the overpopulation of animals in the real world.
Maybe it's just because I don't take the time to understand how it works, but I'd just prefer to catch Pokemon and train them instead of trying to breed the "perfect" one.

Red and Blue didn't have breeding yo.

And imo it adds to the meta-game. I've been playing since Gen 1 also and X/Y is the first time I've ever bred for "perfect" Pokemon. I love it. It has become one of my favorite aspects of the game.

I have no idea what your post is about though. Are you complaining about breeding perfect Pokemon or overpopulation?

Pokemon Breeding is actually one of my favorite aspects to Pokemon.
I'm really competitive by nature, and I get stressed out when battling real-life people, so competitive battling isn't my thing. Instead, I really enjoy breeding pokemon that could be really useful for battling.
Another thing I love is essentially collecting all of the pokemon -- and breeding allows me to do so! I have lots of pokemon with hidden abilities, so if I can breed them and get the abilities passed down, I can trade those for other pokemon that I'm missing.
And honestly, I think breeding is meant for breeding pokemon to your liking, otherwise it wouldn't be made as "complicated" as it has.
I'm rambling, and I don't know what point I was trying to make other than the fact that I love breeding.

Right right, I forgot. It was just the glitch of duplicating Pokemon. As for my post, I was complaining about breeding as a whole. I don't get the point of it, and to me, it just isn't fun.

I get more satisfaction out of catching and training than I do breeding. It also pisses me off when my friends are like "Battle me, I just got Pokemon X/Y" then pull out the same Pokemon as me at lower levels, yet decimate me. At that point, I turn my game off and decide to not play for a lengthy amount of time.

The "point" of breeding is to get good Pokemon. Not a hard concept to understand man. The whole meta-game/online community is based around breeding. Egg moves, IV's, egg groups, breeding items and more. It's all about top tier competitive battling. It's fun for lots of people.

Sure it sucks you don't like to breed and get decimated in battles easily but well you're just going to have too deal with it. There is always the battle maison for tough battles if you want. You can't really take on a team of IV bred Pokemon with egg moves and strategies and then complain about losing.

Breeding non-competitively isn't very hard if you've got a Ditto, and completing the National Dex would be a lot more time-consuming without breeding.
