Has the update removed the ability to plot reset somehow?
Or can you not plot reset with villagers coming from amiibo cards or something?

Yesterday, I couldn't get Stitches plot to move and today I can't get Statics plot to move -_-

I gave up after 3 times with Stitches yesterday, and today I reset 6 times with Static and it wouldn't move :(
Luckily Static wasn't in the WORST place... but I'm going to have to move Stitches out then back in again >.<

It still works, I plotted Sylvana yesterday but as I forgot to place patterns in a couple of places it took a while longer.
Ganon plotted quite quickly, although he tended to favour one area.

Do they not plot on patterns? I never knew that :O

They will only plot on patterns if they have no other space to plot. Which is how I messed up with Sylvana, I placed paths where my mushroom garden was but I was one line short and I didn't spot that so she kept trying to plot there...she did eventually plot in the space I'd left for her and it didn't take as long as I usually would since she only had limited options
It's a really good idea, I'm glad it was added :)

Oh nice :)
Very handy.
Especially since I'm in the process of changing all my villagers now with ones from amiibo cards xD
Dreamies have never been so easy to obtain xD

They will not plot on patterns in the new update! If you want to prevent a villager from plotting in an area, place a pattern in the middle of every 3x3 square (or every third tile). Here's a little diagram I found, with the Os being patterns and the Xs being empty spaces:
OXXOXXO
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
OXXOXXO

Villagers will plot in any 3x3 square that does not have a pattern or other obstacle (rock, river, cliff, pond). So take care to put patterns throughout your flower gardens and orchards, because villagers can and will plot there!

Thanks so much.
This is so handy.
I only invited Stitches to move in yesterday, and I gave up resetting, but I've just forced him out again so I can re-reset his plot using this method xD
I think I've covered every square that isn't already blocked by buildings and pop etc... but we'll soon find out xD

I'm so glad I could help! :) Hopefully the pattern grid will help you put Stitches' home in the perfect spot!

For me plot resetting doesn't work like it did before update. I have moved in three different villagers, each time they seem to lock in on one area and won't deviate from that location. No matter how many times I reset they refuse to move to different locations. From now on I will use patterns to keep them from moving into places that are off limits.

The update did make plot resetting.......weird. Most of the time, Amiibo villagers show a VERY pronounced preference for the spot left behind by the previous villager, which is really frustrating if you don't want them there, since there's no way to guide them away from that spot using patterns. In my experience, it can take a dozen tries or more to get them to deviate from that spot. But it is possible!

Yeh, I'm on my third villager and about to plot reset for them.
It's taken me forever to get them into the right place.

I just keep time travelling back to the day I invited them and laying patterns.

I give up most of the time. lol
