I've just used an amiibo card to move Vivian into my town, but she's plotted so far in the same spot my old villagers house was in, does this change?

I hope so cause the whole point was to get them out of that area :s

Did you kick them out so she could move in? If yes, I believe they always move in the spot of the moved out villager.

No, I gave the old villager to my friend and once his house was gone I moved vivian in, but she won't quit choosing that spot ;-;
I'm on try #4 or 5 I believe right now lol

Are you sure there are other spots for her to move in?
Double check wether the spot you want her in is viable. Or take some patterns off the ground somewhere else and see if she moves somewhere else.

It might be just bad luck. You can always TT backwards and place a pattern where she keeps plotting!

I'll try that!

This happened to me too. All new villagers seem to be attracted to a specific spot (a terrible one in fact) but with enough reseting they choose something else. And don't worry, they won't move to the same spot the villager you kicked out used to be in. The first villager I invited, Rosie, moved to a spot no other villager used before, and I had someone kicked out for her to move. So just keep trying!

Yep.
Many posts have claimed that they move in the same spot...
But... they can still move to others!

I can also confirm they can move to different spots if you have no patterns on the ground or PWPs. Just make sure to have patterns in places you absolutely don't want them to go and have 3x3 space open for their house. They can move on top of flowers.

I plaaced patterns every few spaces so the new villager won't plot thei house there and left 2 3x3 spaces open so that they'll plot there. It took about 15+ tries but eventually my villager went exactly where I wanted her to be. Good luck! :)

Yeah, being able to place patterns to decide where I want my villagers is the best thing about this new update in my opinion. It takes a lot of perseverance in some cases, but they'll move out of that one stubborn spot. I made a mistake when scanning Bam in and spent a week alternating between Axel and Bam plot resetting and covering up problem spots and crying because he wouldn't move into the one available spot for him. I managed to get him in though and I have no regrets!
