i usually don't plot reset considering i dont have much patience, but i'm planning to start plot resetting due to the fact villagers from the void have been constantly plotting their house in the middle of my paths or somewhere else that's inconvenient. aside from that, i was just wondering if you're plot resetting for a villager from the void or at random, will the villager change along with with the plot? and how long does it usually take you to plot reset?

idk about void villagers but with a random move in the villager will change.
i've only plot reset once and it was in the perfect spot on my second try. i've heard about other people having to do it for hours though so idk, it really varies /:

If you're plot resetting for a voided villager, only their plot will move, the villager will stay the same (at least in my experience)
As for how long it takes to plot reset, sometimes I get it perfect on the first try, other times I spend hours and just end up settling for a somewhat decent spot.

I'd think if the villager is from someone's void, it would be the same villager from the same town, and if you reset the plot will move around like tealeaps mentioned..
If it's a random move in, (when you are at 8 villagers or less), villagers will change each time. Tho, I wanted to point out that, if you are missing a personality in your town, say you don't have any jock or cranky villagers in your town. Then you are likely to get Jock or cranky villagers as random move-ins. tho, it is random so there's always a chance it might not be..
And about how long it takes... it's purely luck. and random. xD I've spent hours and hours resetting, whereas some villagers only took me like 2-3 tries. It helps if you have a lot of temporary PWPs set up around the town so they can't move in certain spots.. I have lots of Yellow Benches and Fountains set up as temporary in my new town like everywhere. I still spent a few hours plot resetting cuz I'm super picky about where they go ;__;
