Thanks for checking out this thread!

So, I recently replaced a villager with an Amiibo. I time-traveled to the next day using the 3DS clock and started my plot resetting. The villager continued to place their house in a bad spot since I'd missed some areas with patterns. So I quit without saving, put the DS clock back one day to the real date, and went back into my game via my actual character.

Everything was back to normal. The villager I had been replacing was back in their spot/house packing. I fixed all the patterns so the next day I could try again. To summarize: when I returned to the actual day, it was like I hadn't time-traveled yet.

Is this an age-old trick I'm just now realizing? I understand the situation is pretty specific seeing as I'm using Amiibos, but I figured I might as well give sharing this discovery a shot. I apologize if I'm actually just slow on the uptake. hehe

Maybe it'll be helpful for someone.

Yeah, that trick has been around for a while.I use it a lot because I always seem to miss a couple of spots when putting down patterns.

Ah, no. No need to apologize. I knew about this trick for quite a while. Yep, if you didn't load any new characters that day you were plot resetting and time traveled back the previous day, your still safe. I had to do this with patterns as well. I covered my town too with patterns, but released there was still some spots open, so I went back to the previous day to put more down. As long as you don't load up any existing characters on the new day, the previous day will still be the same if you go back to it. :)

Haha, I did the same thing just now to fix an out of place villager. Dobie is now perfectly in line with Genji and W.link. It's a very useful trick, I had some issues getting him into place, without travelling back I'd probably still be resetting!

Yep, I've done that once before. It's a really nice trick. As long as you haven't loaded up an existing character on the next day, you can go back to the prior day and the game won't know the difference. It will think that it's still the same day so nothing will have changed.
