plot reset help

i'm no stranger to the difficulties of plot resetting, but this time i'm out of ideas and i wanted to see if anyone could help a guy out..

i've got 9 villagers right now, with one plot space open (where an older villager moved out a few weeks ago)
i've got my 10th villager moving in today, and i've spent the last 3 hours trying to plot reset her into that specific space. i know it can be done, because a villager was once there for the longest time period, but for some reason i can't get here to plot there at all. not even close to it. in fact she keeps trying to plot in the same 3 spaces, over and over. i've tried the hard power off reset multiple times, (when instead of hitting home and closing the game to try again, you power off the DS completely) in hopes that it would shift her plot patterns but it doesn't.

do any of you have plot reset tips and tricks that you use to shift up a villagers plot map?

I've had that happen before. You just have to keep at it. She might never go exactly where you want her to though. Incoming villagers can be very stubborn (glares at Papi). Sometimes you just have to settle for a "good enough" spot.

i figured if i could get her within one or two spaces on the grid of the location i have i'd be happy.
but she really wont change her dang plot maps. i don't think i've ever had this much trouble setting a villager before. usually they plop right on into an old villager's slot and it's a done deal. nope, not mint.

Hard resetting is actually what helps for me but it seems like you've already tried that :/
I've also seen people say that if they take out their game card and put it back in after turning off their DS, that sometimes helps too. I dunno how but whatever. When I was plot resetting for Twiggy, I just kept at it. It took me like 20-30 tries to actually get her close to where I wanted. It wasn't exact, but I was done trying.

i've done it easily 20+ times now and it's the same.. maybe 4 plots over and over again.
i'll try the cartridge removal and powering off some more to see if the odds improve. i don't want to give up, but my goodness this is a pain in the butt. my town is really developed and i don't want to have to tear down a ton of stuff to "make it work" with her bogus plots. haha, thank you for the advice!

I know this situation exactly. I tried to get Chief to move in to one particular spot (where a previous villager had lived) for about three days. Well, three days really means about six hours altogether, but it was really grueling! But just keep going at it and try not to give up. You will feel really relieved when you get the villager where you want them. c:

it's always the cuties who have the hardest time plotting correctly.

it's been i don't know how many hours and she still is not anywhere close to this plot.
I know villagers can be there, i had not one villager but two different villagers in that SAME plot over the lifetime of my town..

she literally keeps plotting in the same 5 or 6 spots. and none of them are useful or acceptable for my paths and town layout.

There really arent any tips for once you start resetting....
Before hand though I make sure I have pwp in places I dont want villagers to be..
But really like everyone else is saying, you have to keep at it, reset after reset until your happy with the spot..
I spent 3days resetting over and over once..... its exhausting!

after almsot 9 hours, I FINALLY got her in the EXACT plot i wanted. i'm so happy right now i could cry.
thank you all for the words of encouragement. i honestly almost gave up a few times. (more like almost 20 times)
