'Plot available' for the last 10 days

On July 27th I had a villager decide to move out - since then, the plot has not been taken. From what I've seen plots usually only stay available for a day or two but it's been about 10 days now and it has still not been sold. I have never time-traveled the entire time I've played the game, I haven't taken any villagers from any friends islands, and I've already used all 3 Nook Mile tickets.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or? I'm tired of getting on and being excited to see who's going to be moving in - only to see that the plot is still available. How long is it going to take?

I don't know what the chance is of the plot being taken each day, but I'm guessing it's just bad luck - the longest I've had to wait for a plot to be sold has been nine days since the last move-out, and I've had a couple of others that have taken about a week, so hopefully your wait shouldn't be that much longer.

Do villagers still show up when you go to mystery islands?

Are you very far into the game? There's some early game content that is sort of "on rails", I'm wondering if a step was somehow missed and that's what's causing the problem. You should be asked to buy three plots and decorate them for any villagers moving in, then you have to move in the first campsite visitor you get.

Eta : whoa I had no idea plots could stay open for more than a day! I always get sniped by villagers from towns I've visited.

I haven't been to a mystery island since I used my 3rd Nook Mile ticket to recruit a villager. I thought after that villagers wouldn't appear anymore? And I'm several months into the game ( I started in April) - the plot that is empty is my 10th plot.

Buy more NMTs and go to mystery islands, villagers will always appear on mystery islands when you have an empty plot.

I wish my plots remained empty that long. Longest I've had an empty slot since reached the "end" of the game is, like... two days.

I'd consider that lucky, more time to find a good villager lol

That's odd, the longest I've heard plots being open is 4 days. I know the chances of plots being filled increases per day. Maybe you have really bad rng.

Eeek I traded here a lot do my plot always fills the same day.
A tip if I may... I see you have 15 TBT (bell tree bells - the forum currency), you can buy 15 NMTs in the Nooks Cranny board with it and go island hopping

I had enough for some and within 6 islands, I actually ended up finding Judy, so of course I moved her in right away. Thank you so much for the offer though!!

I’ve never had a plot stay available for more than 2 days but after the fireworks update I had a plot stay available for a week or so. I thought it was a bug but eventually someone moved in lol

I wish the game would give you more time to actually fill a plot with a villager you want and like before instantly fill it with some random move-in. The longest a plot was available for me was two days, ever since then it was taken immediately after one day by some random villager (mostly coming from the void).
