Not necessarily. Games always have a small small SMALL chance of data corruption... Not just Animal Crossing, but all games. It's extremely rare though. Most data corruptions are the user's fault (IE turning off the system while saving),

If I were you though I would just make it a habit of always going to the main menu first before turning off your 3ds. Or if you want to be really safe you can just go to the 3ds dashboard, whatever you have to do to prevent this from ever happening again =/

Yeah, that's what I suggested. I'm too paranoid. I save, wait for the main menu to pop up, hit the home button, close the ACNL software, THEN turn my system off... I think I'm too careful. I get more and more paranoid after reading these stories, though. D:

it's sad too, because ac is the only game that can be compared with pokemon for me. pokemon was a childhood memory, so was animal crossing. pokemon requires less time to complete the game, while animal crossing is virtually impossible to complete. animal crossing also has a lasting appeal that lasts way longer than pokemon in my opinion.
