Hey guys,
I really want to stress to you guys that being incredibly unsupportive of the two spinoff games is a huge mistake. The cost to create a video game is intense, and it takes years to complete. These spinoffs are ways to make money for main instalments to come out.

Argument 1: But Rooftops, It said Animal crossing on the WiiU and we got a stupid spinoff!
どうぶつの森 + Was released December 2001
Wild World was Released in Japan on November 23rd 2005- Nearly four years after どうぶつの森 +.
City Folk was released in Japan on December 2008- Three years after Wild World
New Leaf was released in Japan November 2012 - Nearly four years after City Folk.

It is currently 2015. It has yet to pass the three year marker for a game. The three year marker was from WW to CF- which was the smallest difference in ANY animal crossing series to date. It was a rushed game with significantly less dialogue than new leaf, less new features from any other game, and a rather small set up.

Argument 2: But Rooftops, Look at it! It sucks!!
If anyone cared about getting a new Animal crossing game after New Leaf, you would stop negatively posting about the game. These two games are likely to gain revenue to continue production on the next game instalment. If you continually post it into a negative light, the fewer buy and the less revenue they pull in. The less revenue, the less likely the next real AC game will have any real budget. We will end up with another city folk- good, but not overtly different from the last in the series.

Argument 3: But they promised us a WiiU animal crossing game!
And you got an animal crossing game. Two actually. Animal crossing is a franchise. It's not just a game series. Being in Japan myself for a while, you see that it is a full on franchise that is everywhere as more than just a game. It's like saying we're getting a new pokemon game and get mystery Dungeon. It's a pokemon game, an Amazing one. But it isn't the main series. No one ever said anything about it.

As a game maker myself, I'm more disappointed with the animal crossing community than I am with any other thing that happened today. A mario party-esque animal crossing game? Can I scream in anger at my friends while playing as the evil tom nook? Woah!
I wouldn't buy this game myself, maybe the other one. But you guys don't know the harm you will be causing the franchise you all love if you continue talking like this. Be smart, Be kind, Be positive and stay optimistic. :)

Thanks for your time.

its not that its not ACNL on wii u. its that the amiibo are required to play it to the fullest extent. its like the game is just an accessory to the amiibo

Anima Crossing: amiibo Festival will tank and deservedly so... You don't show a Mario Party game, dress it up into Animal Crossing clothes and show that to a starved Animal Crossing crowd. They deserve all the negativity and much more. I HOPE this game doesn't sell at all so they learn that AC fans do not want stupid spin off like that or Happy Home Arrest.

lol this game is doodoo

i really gotta agree. the spinoffs suck total balls and idk if im gonna buy either of them.

rooftops, maybe youre right about marketing strategy and whatnot, but you really cant tell people that putting things in a negative light will take revenue away from nintendo.

i mean, if you want the money put out a better spinoff? nintendo is probably not 100% dependent on us internet folks publicizing for them.

That is mainly speculation until more details are released about purchase. As mentioned again, Being negative about it will hurt the franchise. It's not just about this game, but also the other one announced.
Remember, Rockband was the same and it was a best seller. You couldn't play the game without the instruments, and still almost everyone had it. We don't know how the game will be sold. You will probably get an Amiibo with it- otherwise it will just be likened to DLC. As far as I know, the game is still playable without the Amiibos, so it isn't much of a reason to put it down to the extent that it has been.

Totally agree. I'm not crazy about this specific spin-off but it's still exciting to see AC grow. Spin-offs mean they're getting more creative and want to test the waters to see how much bigger AC can get. It's not a game to 'buy time' because games cost money, so if that were the case, they'd simply leave the market as-is and pocket that money. They want to try new things and expand their franchise and I think it's a great idea and I'd like to be supportive if it means we'll have more AC anything! Innovation comes from growth and change. You can't get there if you stay stagnant, stuck with the same concept, in the same style forever.

Spin-offs are usually generate money allotted to the games. Mario games don't fund Animal crossing games and vice versa.
Negative publicity is shown to be more effective either way. It's how GTA sold its' first millions. I am arguing that you need to stand by franchises you love. It was litterally JUST announced. No one can judge it quite yet. I'm not saying this game will be any good, let alone worth buying, but everyone is so angry over nothing.

sorry for being so negative but its so bad. its so bad. if they want revenue they could make a game worth buying?? we arent going to lie so nintendo can make money.

Ew they shouldn't make another animal crossing game. Not for peeps liker you guys.., this is why Japan always gets all the cute extra stuff and we get the slim pickings

How do you know a game is bad or good just from a video? I'm not trying to start an argument, but there has been what like a whole 5 minute video on the game. I don't think that we've received an adequate amount of info to judge this game as bad yet. Plus, I've misjudged games from videos plenty of times and then I go play the demo and have my opinion completely flipped.

I could totally get behind this game as I think it looks fun, however, if amiibo are required to play I just don't see myself spending that extra cash for what would virtually be a board game piece.

*sigh* While I'm not crazy about the idea of this game, people need to stop being such jerks. It's silly :/

We as consumers have a right to determine what is good and bad. in this case, the majority of consumers, including myself, see it as bad as it is more focused on amiibo than anything else

I still think it's too early to judge, I mean the game was just announced today, but to each his own. And at least Nintendo is finally using the amiibos for an actual game rather than simply letting them unlock items that could just as simply be DLC.

I have the Mario amiibo that came with Mario Party 10 and it just sits on a shelf in my room hardly ever used as I completely forget about it, not that it really does anything to interest me. It's basically a fancy paperweight that I paid $10 for.

The general sentiment is quite bad. Look at the stats on YouTube. Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival stats are nearly as worst as Metroid Prime: Federation Force.

I think the reason why people hate this game (even when it isn't released yet) is because they wanted a normal AC game, but they didn't see an announcement for it. It's not really the content or the gameplay. It's that they're not seeing what they want.

If they understand that it's a spin-off, then why bash this game long before the release? Seriously, the gamers' attitudes towards this game is much more childish than people's attitudes towards The Phantom Menace (and that's where they hate the entire movie because of one character).

Personally, I was never saying I wanted Animal Crossing in 2015, I just want it confirmed already. If the cycle continues, we have late 2016/2017 release date on our hands, if it happens. If they're working on it. But are they? Nope, they're wasting their merry time with two spinoffs, not to mention some of the Animal Crossing team is working on some Splatoon DLC at the moment (not a waste, but you see my point). I don't see how it's possible Animal Crossing Wii U happens before the Wii U dies. Listen, I'm all for spinoffs, but not two in a time when there's still no word and maybe even no chance at a Animal Crossing on Nintendo's latest system.

I personally don't like party games and that's all I need to dislike this game. I'm not against Animal Crossing spinoffs- but not if it affects the main series, which I'm pretty sure it's currently doing.
